Yeah be careful,

I got a card stuck underneath the tray (god knows how) but it wouldn't open, i had to take out my radio to get underneath and got a bit too forceful . The tray is now broken and it is stuck in the closed position so need to get a new one

to take the facia off you need to undo the two screws at the bottom then pull slowly from the bottom upwards, should pop off.

There's probably a clip or something holding the tray assembly in the dash, but as my card was underneath i was able to slide it out without having to take the tray out, still managed to break the thing though with my clumsiness

its fairly easy to pull the card holder out once you've got the facia off the radio, had mine out a while ago, was gonna fit a turbo timer in there as it fit perfectly, but then decided against the turbo timer in end anyway so put it all back together.

just a slight aside but on the same subject.....

would it be possible to swap the card holder for the tcs/heated window buttons in order to have a cup holder and not have it interfere with turning the steering wheel?

The two buttons look the same size as the card holder.....

right just did this on my lunch break, never done it before and it was only a 5 min job, just a case of taking the facia off, then prising the tray assembly out of the dash with a screwdriver, then unclipping the top of the tray and disassembling the unit and removing the card!

gav - that's a quality idea. i see no reaosn why that wouldn't work if the unit was the same size?! i will look into it.

Do A Search, Sure people were talking about this not too long ago!

i dont remember people saying about swapping the buttons round?

looking at it i reckon it would work and its something that i would do.....the only issue that i could see happening would be the volume knob getting in the way depending how far the holder dropped down??

cool though if you could do it!!

sounds a good idea but you wouldnt be gaining any extra space swapping the buttons for the card holder? yes you would stop it getting in the way of the steering wheel but it still needs to fit in, unless im missing something and someone has found a cupholder that fits in the card slot?
if you could replace the hazard switch with one that was smaller width then you could be onto something :)

it wont work!

there is a little bit of plastic seperating the tcs and heater section!

you could cut it out but the cup holder secures in a different way and then the tcs and heater button wouldnt be the greatest of fixings in the tray slot!

does that make any sense to anyone?
