600miles?! whats venting?
Best ive done was averaging about 53mpg for a 320 mile stint from Milton Keynes to Penzance.
That didnt use the whole tank, had about 1/3rd left.
Normal driving, I get about 350miles I think, averaging 45mpg ish

Do a search for venting and all will be revealed!
I managed to squeeze 50 litres into mine by venting and then drove to Aberdeen and back (300 miles of steady 60/70mph). The rest of the tank was then a mix of driving. Filled up with 550 miles from the tank and 20 left on the computer. I usually get around 500 miles to a vented tank. The cars only got 6000 miles on it and I also use Millers Sport 4 in the tank.

I fill my car with £37-£39 of fuel (approx 42-43) litres every week and I can do 520-530 miles before I fill up (10/15 showing on the trip.
I've got 6k on the clock and don't do anything else. It's great

ok I dont have an FR, cupra or TDI! But I do have a DAB. and I can just about manage to get 300miles out of it which I think is piss poor!! Thats filling up £35 each week. about 42L I think!

I have just filled up to the brim (with venting, now I know what that is) and managed to fit 49.29 litres into my 1.9TDi FR. I had done the same previously so can calculate that doing 584.1 miles, using 10.95 gals = 53mpg..hurrah.
That's mostly Banstead, M25, M3, Bracknel, M4, A34, work.

My Record is 520 miles, Kent to Dundee.
Usually get 320-340 per tank around town though.
The Cupra's do seem to get a lot less MPG then the FR's and Sports

I always put over 50litres in it with venting, and I always get at least 450 miles to a tank.
Thats with 40 miles a day on motorways at 90ish, and then driving on by-passes and slow town roads for the rest of the time. I do give the car some boot too, so im not ***** footing around.

That's poor!!
I was getting 64mpg according to trip comp which was 58mpg if you worked it out yourself!

Hi Mate,
If I'm right (and I have a very slight grasp on "right") it's all to do with a little "nipple" type thing just inside the mouth of the fuel filler hole. On my FR it's on the RHS at about 3 o'clock.
Fill up until the pump stops itself, then you can "dribble" fuel in so it comes up the the mouth of the hole. Kind of flick/move the "nipple" to the side and hey presto this vents the air from the tank allowing the fuel to go down the pipe.
You can do this a bit more to fill it up to the brim.
I'm not sure whether this is recommended though. Maybe the air-gap is used for something...like safety...but you do get a good range out of the car.

I managed 62.2MPG on a run from Shrewsbury to Birmingham once, however I did drive at a steady 55 and watched the whole world drive past.
Though generally get somewhere between 300-400 miles per refill, depending on how much fun i'm having that week.
