hi mk3's, i'm just nipping over to your section as i'm thinking of getting a mk3 beezer in september this year (as ill be 19 then and insurance won't be as bad!) but just need to know some bits and pieces about them first...
1. how likley is it that ill find a decent yellow one about! (as think it looks stunning in yellow)
2. what are the differences between the cupra and the cupra r? (hoping to get a cupra r)
3.what faults should i be looking for?
4. how much should i be paying for a decent one?, hoping to get one with less than 65k on the clock.
cheers guys, and if any of you are thinking of selling yours after the summer let me know!!!:D

1. Quite likely if your patient.
2. search
3. search
4. search....oh ok £6000 seems the average rate these days, but if your patient the right one could come around for abit less

a more helpful answer

1.well the chances of finding a yellow one are the same as any other colour really, when i brought mine i actually found more yellows than any other colour. look in the wanted section theres probably a few about.

2. the only differences that matter are that the cupra r has 30 more bhp, brembo brakes, OZ 16" wheels and decent suspension.

3. theres a thread called "whats gone wrong with your cupra" on this page, look in that thread.

4. youll be looking at paying between 5-6k for a cupra depending where you are in the country, but over 6k for a cupra R.

cheers guys. will defo go on the wanted section but still got quite a few months of saving and waiting before ill bother advertising for one. i though there was only 100 or so cuprs r's about in england? as do really want the cupre r as want that 180bhp! and my old 8 valve was bengal yellow and that looked stunning but your cupra r barry looks wicked in yellow, so i'm just really hoping one turns up in good nick in september time!

cant see how that was any more helpful tbh,

Cupra R also has SeatSport logo seats, red seatbelts, red stitching on steering wheel and gear stick gaiter, Cupra R sill covers and a carbon fibre trimmed engine cover

there was 75 RHD models brought into the UK although many are likely to be dead, plus a number of yellow Rs were used as track cars and press cars

the 180bhp is only due to the map the AYP engine is identical to 156bhp AYP Cupras. they will modify to the exact same result

also for a Cupra R, budget for an extra grand or two

Cupra R is a bstard to find for sale, I had to travel far to get mine. Cost more as well and they are basically the same car.

IMO get a cupra and use the money you saved getting decent brake set up and a map. ;)

cheers, tbh id only get a cupra R if your gonna leave it standard. the chances of finding a cupra R in yellow are a hell of a lot slimmer than a normal cupra.

well yeah i suppose you've got the brembo's so you wouldn't want to respray them, but i'm gonna! with the oz multispokes it looks wicked! all the kids and lads look at your wheels when your in a traffic jam! and they all point and go oooo, ahhhh.... but if i get a cupra r i might leave them, but def will spray them if i have a cupra. yellow is the way forward! although i did see a blue one on hear that looks really nice too, don't know his name you probably do?

Well, 0- 60 is 7.2 for a cupra r and 7.6(i think) for a cupra - both standard.

Cupra R also has SEATSport suspension on it which makes it a little 'sporty'

Stopping is excellent on my R. Ive had mine mapped as well so it goes pretty quickly now.

So standard they are a quick but not super super quick, When you buy 1 get it mapped and it will make a huge difference.

My car was last RR'd at 179.bhp & 191 lb/ft before I sorted out my remap. Ive got an RR this month so I will be able to let u know what I get then.

In answer to your question they are quicker than the mk2's. IMO turbo cars are fun

see everyone loves the black multispokes! and yes!! beaker has the yellow brake calipers! anywaya sounds like a cupra will be fine, and ill definatley get it re-mapped. pm me dan, when you've got your R mapped. anyway the mk2 boys are probably bitching about me being a trator so i best get back to the mk 2 section but feel free to tell me anymore! ill be peeping over to this section to find out more! :D cheers guys. and i yeah i think turbo'd cars are more fun, thats why i want one, it'll be my first turbo car! and imo nothing better than a cupra in yella with a big turbo and a nice dump valve to go with the looks!

He he, was never really sure about my brakes. I guess red calipers are pretty common now on all types of cars. If/when i get Brembos, they'll be going yellow too :)
