Trouble fitting baby seats into Cupra R

I have a Cupra R and a 4 month old baby. We have a Mamas and Papas car seat for him (with the seperate base) and I am having real problems getting it to sit flat on the rear seats because they are shaped. Also, the seatbelt is not long enough to go round the seat so i have to put it round before fixing the seat in, and the seat doesnt fit well behind the drivers/passengers seats as it is hard up against them.

Does anyone else have problems with fitting car seats, and if not what seat have you got ? I also had to fit my 2.5 yr old nephews seat to my car yesterday and had to push the passenger seat right forward to even get it in straight !!

if i can get a child seat in my Ibiza, shouldn't be any hassle with a Leon

the shape of my seats caused it to be a pain in the rear but i just made sure it was in securely and didnt budge. not something we skimp on i'm sure you agree.

unfortunately my passenger seat cannot go back all the way, and even less with the child in it.

Ive got a 2 month old boy. We have a travel system 'baby loola' made by bebe confort. It doesnt have a seperate base as Ive read varying reports about the safety of those. It does fit back and front in the LCR no probs though - largely helped by the narrow bottom...it of course does mean you have to belt it in everytime rather than a click on the base....but its an excellent fit. The seat is called Creatis I think.

Put a blanket or something under the Primo Vaggio Base to fill the Gap underneath a little, put the base on top of the Seat / blanket, put the belt accross the bottom (clip it in) and pull it really tight....spend time pulling it tight and getting the base flat

Put the child seat it the base, swing the Hoop down into the seat Back. Stretch the belt round the back of the Child seat and fix into the clip on the back of the child seat.

I then slide the passenger seat back against the Child seat to wedge it in place.

i have no probs with a priori maxi cosi and a britax hi-liner in my LCR

my youngest is 18 months though, so can use an older seat.

dont have any problems with my 5 month old travel sytsem car seat (graco) narrow bottom.
but i do have problems with the older kids booster seats as they dont fit between the seat supports

I don't have kids, so I am no expert on the matter! But I seem to remember seeing in the spec the Leon has ISOFIX fixings for baby seats - is that relevant? Could a different type of seat help?

At a guess it's part of a travel system so clips on and off a pram chasis etc.

Mamas and Papas have a good safety rating but are not ISOFIX.

I will certainly be looking for an ISOFIX solution when we change up a size (my little one is 7 months old) in car seats

I have the Primo Viaggio.
I dont use the base as thats in the wife's car. But when I fit just the seat there are two problems...

1. You have to put the front seat forward and could never have a tall front passenger.
2. The belt is so short that you have to tip the seat forward to reach it over. Be careful if the baby is young (under 3 months) as you can tip it forward also.

With the belt in place you then have to lever the seat back into the horisontal orientation.

One thing I would say is that although this is a bit of a pain, when fitted the seat is not going anywhere as its virtually wedged in.

You will get the hang of it soon enough.

We have a Britax travel system, for our soon to be 4 month old. Fits fine, no moving of seats etc. It does not have a fixed base though. Does not really bother me, as the baseless car seats are lighter to carry around, and she is soon to be too big for the seat anyway.

The ISOFIX system allow the car seat to be attached to the chassis of the car. At the moment they are very expensive and for the rear facing seats means installing a bulky base that remains in the car once the seat is removed.

I've got a Maxi Cosi Cabrio and it's not a great fit for the back seats. There is little room between the front and rear seats and the belt is only just long enough to go round. Fits the Wifes Clio like a glove though.

Lucas (now nearly 2) had Britax Iso-fix babyseat and base. Spot on!!! no movement at all, yes it wasn't cheap but that does not matter.

He now has the SEAT isofix seat, it is basically a britax but has nice red and grey trim. Again no movement!

NB recaro also do an isofix system now I'm a little uncertain of the seat quality, I heard they are not so good in crash tests?

I've noticed that the rear drivers side belt isn't as long as the passengers rear!

Is that normal?

It's a real pain, if my wife is in the back too. Rear leg room isn't the greatest in the leon, and I have my seat right back when I drive.

My kids are a little older (3yrs and 6yrs) so don't use a baby chair however must agree the booster seat is not a great fit for my six year old. Anyone any recommendations?
My 3yr old has a britax seat which fits like a glove though....shame front leg room suffers as a result but main thing is shes very secure.
If your considering a change for safety sake try the britax website which has a fit finder tool that you can get a suitable seat which is matched to fit the car. Not sure how effective it is with the LCR though as not used it personnally.
