Picked up FR Tdi Today

You see I decided to stop off in Brum and pick up the Infinity Kappa 653.7i's I'd reserved from a shop. Whilst driving through Brum I had a phone call. Being the responsible person I am, I pulled over before answering and CRRRRUUUUUNNNNCCCCHHH!!!! Kerbed my brand spanking new alloy!!!!!



Almost wanted to cry - it's done quite a bit of damage as a lot of paint has flaked off around the area.

Going to call around a few places tomorrow to get it looked at and HOPEFULLY repaired during next week. Really took the shine off my brand new immaculate car

Really sorry to hear that hope you can get it refurbed to a high standard. I know that alloys are one of the main things that worry me.

i was washing me car the last weekend, and whilst cleaning the alloys, me alloy wheel brush snapped, it was getting quite old, anyway, left me with 3 nice scratches on me alloy, parallel to the balancing weights, my plan is when in for service im gonna see if they can rebalance the wheel, and restick the weights out slighty more, only 5mm is needed and i rekon the scratches could be covered.

We've all done it! I had a choice of "dive out of car and rescue Gran who had fallen over" or "park properly". I chose the first option and chewed half the laquered rim on my old cars alloys.

Yep, it's really depressing.... getting a local guy to have a look at it tomorrow, so hopfully by the afternoon it'll be repaired and as-new.

Haven't been able to do my mudflaps or my speakers today cos of the torrential rain.

Really feel for you, I did the same thing when I got my Type-r a few years ago..... it'll all be fine when you get it fixed mate.

Ive done mine too this weekend rushing to get to the football (York City FC).Also as I was filling up the car at the petrol station this afternoon a bloke pulls up in a new 911 turbo and crunched his front wheel and took the front bumper off on the petrol pump stand. It made me smile for a bit.

Yeah, I hope so. It's really put a downer on having the new car. It's weird but I dont feel as excited about driving it at the moment because of it....

The positive to take from this is that you'll probably never do it again.. You'll be mega careful every time you park kerbside from now on.
WAGS have a reputation for this sort of behaviour!!

I go off my cars too if they are damaged. Luckily, the wheels on my civic were replaced under warrantee because they were rusting so they are virtually immaculate now - not bad for a 5 year old car.

In the Leon I'm taking stupid amounts of time parking it ensuring I don't damage the wheels - mirrors down, head out of window etc. Thing is, I'm not used to the car yet, and to be honest, I'm not willing to get to know it by trial and error because that means I’ll probably damage it. So I'll probably never get any better!

Yes, you're definitely right there!!!! Luckily i called in to a local place at 8:30 this morning and they've managed to squeeze me in. It's going to cost me £60 to have it sorted. Didnt think it was too bad, and it's a proper nice workshop.

I was amazed at how much damage was caused by such a little scrape - the wheel seems to have some sort of coating on it which gives it the grey colouring, and that stuff just flaked off in big pieces!!!

ANYONE WITH 18"s ON THEIR MK2 LEON - MAKE EVERY ATTEMPT TO NOT KERB YOUR ALLOYS!!!!!!! EVER!!!

i'm sure gran would have been fine for 30 secs or so whilst you parked carefully

Yeah, but by the look of it your alloys aren't covered in a laquer which flakes off in pieces the size of 1p coins revealing the silver underneath

Oh well, all repaired now, looks as good as new, really suprised at how good a job they've done!

Fitted my mudflaps when I got home too - only took about 20 mins. How SEAT can justify £70 for this I really dont know.
