Just booked my beloved Ibiza in for it's 20K service.

£225 for that. No problem.

Then the nice lady they told me it'll be due a Brake Fluid change, and this will cost me an extra £55.

So, £280 for a 20K service?

Bloody hell, seems a bit steep to me...

I have a facelift 1.9 TDI FR, not sure what difference it should make mind you

I think the cost will depends on whether it's due an "annual inspection" service, in addition to the oil change service - perhaps that's what they have quoted for.

It all sounds even more expensive when you realise just how little gets done (for example the air filter is only scheduled for change every 40k....)

think yourself lucky iv got my 60k coming up end of the year now thats gona be expensive lol
Cambelt time :)

When I had mine, I took out the Seat Service, Maintenance & Tyres plan (SMT). I paid a fixed monthly fee for 3 years (based on my estimated mileage), which did soften the blow of events like 60k services, full sets of tyres etc.

I just paid £180 for 20k Inspection service on my car - same model and age as yours.

I don't think the brake fluid's due for a change yet - mine wasn't changed. Isn't it every two years? They may have assumed that because you've done 20k your car is 2 years old

EDIT

Just noticed you're from South Wales - Where did you get your quote from? I had mine done at FRF Swansea

Wait until you get to 40K service... £295 (SEAT Servicing)
all filters are replaced plus an oil change (note for TDi)

but at least you can relax in the showroom, with a nice hot coffee and a WELL READ copy of AutoExpress, while your car is being serviced by expert hands! :D :p

Took my PD160 to FRF as well. They are quite good. I think I paid £200 for 2nd year service (£150 for 1st year service). I tried VW but they refused to service it for some unknown reason. I don't think I will be getting my service at a stealer next time though. There are plenty of local garages who can provide the same service at half the cost. As long as they are VAT registered it wont invalidate your warranty either (EU restriction of trade law). I checked the breakdown of my service and about £60 was oil alone!

20k service on a facelift model? I can stop worrying that I've done 13.5k in my pre-facelift example in nearly 9 months then. :D

Quick question while we're on the subject of servicing. Do I get my 20k service, as well as a 12 month service, or is it a case of whatever comes first?

The servicing for a TDI is every 10K Or 1YR whichever comes first.
