Thinking Of Buying Fr Need Advice

ive been offerd a good deal on a new fr and was hoping you guys could tell me a bit about them.
i test drove one and it was great but how reliable are they in general?,i know there VW engines and there regarded as being pretty good but what about the overall build quality are they up there with vw"s? any help much appriciated

Is it a 20v T or the TDi matey?

I own a pre-facelift FR TDi on a 05 plate with 43,000 miles on the clock.

Both are very tunable, up the power from 130bhp from the diesel to circa 170bhp and the petrol from 150bhp to 190bhp plus with just a remap alone!

Build quality imho is the same as the polo, ive been in 2 and they feel the same to me, just difference styling. The Ibiza has a "funky" interior which some people might look at as cheap. I dont!

cheers mate. mines would be the petrol version dont do enough mileage to merit a diesel.roughly how much does it cost to remap does it bump up the insurance a bit?also have you lowerd your car,is it springs front and back?

i was offerd a selection of pre registerd 07 plate ones at 9995 thought that was pretty good

thats a god price i would say remaps can cost 250 from some or 460 from likes of revo, but you can push one hell of alot out of them for about 2k. best think for lowering is springs and uprated shocks or coilovers which are height adjustable and can go very low indeed

is the steering effected much when lowerd?i lowerd my 206 and man the steering got heavy was told its just a common side effect when you lower your car.does the ride quality change much?

dont personally know that answer not lowered mine yet but a drop of 35mm wont do much but going really low might

Ive lowered mine around 60mm on the back and 50mm on the front, with no problems. I prefer heavy steering, and have set my power steering up a few levels anyway

My only criticism is road noise of them but it brings a grin to my face avery time I drive it

i take it from the price and the fact that your from glasgow ull be getting it from sir arnies? dont get supagard, they didnt even wash mine before it was applied

yep arnolds it is put my deposit down today!!.theres no chance id pay for supagaurd,diamond brite or anything like that.my brother inlaw works for reg vardy ford car valeting and not once and i mean never has he or any other valeter aplied the diamond brite,they give the interior a quick skoosh with the fabric protector that takes about ten seconds,they then either throw the polish ect away,give it away or sell it on ebay.
ive spoke to valeters in other places that do the exact same and if your car has just been polished with the cheapo pink polish they use it will still feel all smooth like it would had it been done with the supagaurd ect so theres no way of telling if its been done or not.so anyone who thinks there car has been treated with this stuff may very well have been taken for a mug.
i dont know how much they charge now last i heard it was about £150-200 and for that money you could get yourself a lot of zaino products or a hell of alot of good quality carnabau wax both of wich id prefer over supagaurd

I applied Supaguard myself yesterday.
I polished it first with Autoglym Super Resin Polish.
I got the Supaguard off E-Bay.
I know a lot of people don't rate it but I used it on My Crossfire and was fairly happy with the results.

as said before the stealers throw it away or sell it cos they have a shortage of elbow grease

all they do is spreay the seats and door cards

When my missus bought her black Honda Jazz they included the Diamondbrite treatment free as an incentive to buy. I know the salesman personally and when we picked the car up he gave us the remainder of the treatment in the bottles to take away.

The missus also got a big bag full of Diamondbrite aftercare products like the shampoo, restorer, glass cleaner etc. and her eyes lit up when the saw the smart bag. Women, eh!

I have to say, the car does seem to keep a lot cleaner for longer than her black Punto ever did.
