only had a new pump about 6 months ago!!!

Rang GK seat at derby and they said they had seen it before but there was nothing they could do warenty wise as they only offer a 3 year warrenty and seat havnt recaled it as a problem.

They sai that i would have to get a new fuse box!! I mentoned to them that it could be the fans drawing to much but they said that only happens on leons!!!!! If they know ity only happens on leons whys this not been recalled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mechanic routed the fuse in its own new holder just the other side of the fuse box, perhaps a little further away from direct engine heat. This avoided having to get a whole new fuse box too.

Can't get any up at the moment as I'm at work until tomorrow, but the wires just bypass the holder and connect with a solitary fuse connector (about an inch by an inch and a half square) which simply rests between the battery and the airbox (not sure of the layout you have in the Ibiza). I believe this benefits more from cool air entering the engine bay to the right of the battery and shields it from the engine and also from reflected heat off the bonnet.

If you PM me your mobile number (or anyone else) I could MMS you a couple of pics I've taken on my mobile for you to post up if it helps. I pulled the fuse out of where it normally sits otherwise you wouldn't see it.

OK, back home now so I've got the pics up of the re-routed fuse. Not brilliant pics but they give the idea - I pulled the new fuse holder out of where it normally sits so you can see it. You can see the burnt out bit of fuse box on one of them with the cover off (other two fuses still OK) - identical to lots of other pics I saw in another thread with people who had had this problem. And yes there should have been a recall. Potential engine fire at worst and ruining lots of other components a strong possibility. Definitely a design fault.

yeah but with melt there's heat........the heat has managed to melt the plastic so whats stopping it from making something close up/join further down the fuse holder? its possible....

dont blame you!! The dealers wanted to replace my fuseboard for a melted fuse problem like yours when it hadnt even melted.....i think they make the price up depending how much work they've had during the week...
