Hi to you all . Thinking about replacing the standard H7 for after market H7
anyone done this mod yet. The factory one's are ok and are easy to remove
but just can not make up my mind.??? I'm not one for Blue/Rainbow effect.
Hi
Fitted the Phillips extra bright H7 bulbs to the dip beams over a year ago. Bit awkward fitting them but well worth it. Only down side is motorists who will look into lights and flash me even when the beam ranger is set down.
Well worth changing the bulbs. I've put in the Halfords brilliance bulbs, dipped H7 and main beam H1. Nice and bright. the light is cleaner and objects are better defined.
They're not that hard to change over, (unlike my borthers Audi
A2 which took 1 hour, you have to take the headlight units out completely!!!)
Just have to feel around for the metal clip and push it in and to the right.
I really don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to. The only thing that changes is the quality of the light emitted from the bulb, the alignment will be as before. There shouldn't be any more heat given off as its just a more efficient bulb.
Well if that's the case, it should be alright. I know that deflectors aren't suitable for Xenon bulbs, read that on Honest John. My next project sorted, um Osram, Phillips or Halfords. Anyone ?.
Why don't deflectors work with Xenon bulbs ??? and are these Xenon bulbs we're talking about above for the Altea, the ones that giev you 50 percent more light.
That's the wrong type of xenon bulb. The website is taking about HID's where u have a spark between 2 electodes to make the light. This type are regular bulbs but have a different gas in compared to standard bulbs so they can have a thinner element that glows brighter and makes more light.
oh right.... thought I'd ask rather doing the research myself since I don't know my Xenons from my Xenons....
Thanks for the link to the test site. I do agree the original bulbs aren't as bright as they could be. The question is now Phillips with the blue paint or Osram.
I've just upgrade my 06 Toledo with a pair of the new Philips h7 extreme 80% brighter bulbs.. WOW what a difference!! I had the 50% Halfords own brand fitted which were good but the Philips just blow them away. I can highly recommend the extreme H7's if you can find them.. I'm gonna fit the H1's to my full beam when they are available.
I bought Halfords All weather bulbs today...CRAP,CRAP,CRAP .If you like
rainbows in your head lights and the road ahead is a wash with colour.
It felt like i had taken LSD.These bulbs are not a night time bulb.
I just went for plain ol white that's brighter than stock. The osrams certainly do the job, but I understnd that there isn't a whole lot to choose between the Philips and Osram. Got mine on ebay, I think both sets came to about £25 which wasn't bad.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....Sell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget
This is the seller I used.
Has anyone else found that changing the bulbs has had an effect on the alignment of the lights i fitted the Ring lamps and had to have my Altea headlamps realigned as they were pointing at the sky on dipped beam.
(Now have proper Xenons on the Leon, what a difference!!!!! )
Paul
I also fitted Ring bulbs (+50% ones on offer at the local motorist discount centre) which I found had a wider dispersion of light than the originals and were a fair bit brighter. I had adjusted the lights upwards with the original bulbs as I just couldn't see where I was going with the original alignment, but then had to adjust them back most of the way as I was getting flashed! Adjusting is easy to do, just remember one turn is a BIG change.
