This noise..... a blowing exhaust??

Hi,

Sounds like it could be one of two things..

Secondary air pump split or cracked, very common but only normally works for first 30-40 seconds from cold then stops.

Turbo has come loose, another common problem on cupra's, there are three bolts that hold the turbo to the manifold, sometimes, due to heat e.t.c they become loose. easy fix. as long as threads are ok. normally just a case of remove bolts and either coat with some special paste and re-fit or renew them.

Both items should be covered under warranty so no charge to yourself.

as for M1 auto's! good luck..... If you get no joy from them try New Southgate SEAT  :D :D .

Hope you get it sorted.....

Jochen.

Ok just had a second opinion from M1 Auto's. Went in and phil came out to have a look straight away. He took it for a little test drive but the engine was too hot and the exhaust was on full growl so he told me to park up and leave the car for couple of hours.

Two hours later i started the car up and phil imediately said, thats not a noise we have heard on these cars before, Its definately not the flexi pipe, secondary air pump or even the turbo coming loose. He took it up onto the ramps. Gave it a good look and anotother hour later he told me the noise is from the heat shield on the CAT. Its not broken, it prob just hit a road hump. It can be fixed but i didn't bother really, unless something is broken the i dnt think its any point fixing it. I can live with the little noise for now. As for the blowing....well i cant say i get that noise anymore. will look out for it but the performance is still there. Raced a GOLF VR6 and before i could switch to 4th gear, he gave up the chase lol.

Great guy, if i have a problem with my car, i shall definately make the journey into london and get him to check it out. Really can tell he took care of me and didn't feel like another sausage in a suasage factory.

Anyone interested in a mint TDI FR 150 chipped to 210 . Call up M1 Auto's and ask for phill.
