Just bought a 1.4 DAB for wifes sister. Don't understand why you guys have to wait.

Our local dealer had them in stock, plenty of them. Unfortunately they sold 2 within the hour we were there, so the showroom one isn't available, but they have plenty at the docks that just need preparing, they quoted 3-4 days so have booked in to collect on Saturday.

Paid £7999 aswell, no wonder they sold 2 whilst we were there, terrific value.... I have a new FR and would be more than happy with the DAB, there isn't a huge amount of difference in the DAB and the pre-facelift FR and for £8k new a lot of car for your bucks!

Herts, got ours from St Albans Seat dealer

your really lucky, I have spoke to a few garages up here and they say that there are none, waiting at port, apart from ones already ordered.

Mine is having to be ordered all the way from Spain.

Hopefully its well on the way though

My FR had just come out of the factory in spain (that day) when I ordered and I got it 10 days later, so could get it quicker than you think....

Thats a bit far for me to travel.
Nearly 400 miles.

Norrie.

Take a RyanAir/EasyJet flight for about 50p to Luton airport, it's ten minutes on the train to the dealer, then drive back, only cost you £40 in fuel and you'll have got it run in nicely on the drive back!

Aye but the DABs take time at the port to get the extras fitted, so my dealer says so that is why it takes a bit longer

I done that with my Crossfire.
Flew to London got picked up by the dealer and drove it back up.
It cost a bit more than £40 in fuel though.
Only get about 22 MPG.

i think your dealer may be telling you porky pies! there is no way he can gaurantee next saturday he will only be able to reserve you one on monday he then has to wait over night until it consignes into his stock then wait overnight until it is loaded onto the avral system to issue you a reg number when this is done (wednesday) the transport company ecm will be notified and they will give an eta from docks he then has to get the car pdi'd and valeted whilst all this is going on you will have to wait for your insurance company to send out an insurance certificate, if you get it on saturday i will be superised:D

I think you will be surprised as I said before in a previous post, my FR had just left the plant (in Spain) on the day I purchased. It was in my hand 10 days later, and I could have had it 2-3 days earlier (but for the insurance issue you mention).

The insurance isn't as much an issue now because most dealers now offer 7 days free incurance through a company (could be Norwich Union) who offer it as a way of getting your years insurance out of you, this allows the company to satisfy the FSA regulations in allowing the car to be released.

You don't have to get the car registered before the car can be released anyway, that can all be arranged whilst in transit, and anyway getting it registered takes less than an hour including issuing a tax certificate, it's all electronic nowadays. so providing the car leaves the docks Mon/Tues there is still 4 days to get this all completed, no problem!

Fancy a wager?

without being funny bigbash i do this for a living and have done for quite a while i would never tell a customer they could have the car in a week. Seats own guidelines even say DO NOT advise of delivery date until the car is at the dealership.

Fair enough, so why would my dealer say it then? As I mentioned I have already bought one from them and it was ready before they advised, so can only go on what they say this time can't I?

absolutely mate. i dont know why he would tell you a week unless they already have cars in transit to them, its just these dabs can be difficult as they already had some come without radio controls and the preparation can take longer than expected i hope it does come for saturday, they are so much fun she will be pleased with it.

Fingers crossed, but you are definately right, cannot think of any other car that offers you such a good spec, decent engine, build quality and looks for the money!
