I think you can find a good bargain privately. Dont rush tbh, take your time...:) I am sure you know that anyway.

I've been through enough cars, funnily enough though the last 2 I bought were the first I looked at. And neither have given me an ounce of trouble - the gut feeling was good!

I'm glad I walked away now. I'll keep my eyes trained for the bargains!

I'll save like mad then - currently would need to sell the Passat to make up the difference. Unless the bank of mum and dad give me a temp loan for a week :)

I shall make some time to see a proper cupra tdi from SEAT then.

What area are you in?
If your local to me i don't mind letting you in the hot seat for a quick drive. I'll take the remap off so you can drive a standard one so you don't feel i'm over selling it.

good point - oops. I guess that one's gone if he didn't mention it earlier in the post.

Don't know mate, but the contact details for the car are there and no-one has removed it or edited it to SOLD, so give the guy a ring.
If it's been detailed by Finer details then i know for a fact you won't find many cars in better condition paint wise (i've had mine done by him twice).

If you've no car to part ex and have 'cash' available it might well pay to walk into a proper SEAT dealer and haggle with them.

not trying to hijack the thread, but...

I'm preferably after an FR+, no part ex and the cash in the bank (well, anyday now) and like the look of one at my local dealers. 55 plate, 9k on the clock, but they want £13995 for it. Not prepared to pay that much, just wondering how far i could try and lower them without making myself look stupid

I bought my FR+ TDI in March '06, ex-demo with 5k miles,managed to get it for £12,750.
Though they seem to have gone up in price since then!

It's not mine, belongs to a friend - worth giving him a ring as he's not said whether he sold it or not.
Cheers

Pat

I have emailed and it's still available - seems like a good price if the guides are anything to go by, however it's still a bit high for my budget and the 200bhp remap scares me a little! is it a minter? looks like it. shall have a chat with him on email and see what the score is. Cheers.

Chris' car? Yes i've seen that in the flesh and it is very clean.

I'm going to have a serious think before wasting his time, the only negative being the remap's effects on the car and in turn the warranty, and when the rempa was applied and how it's been treated subsequently - will have to take Chris' word for it too. I can tell it's probably been looked after if Chris has had it detailed.

Oh, and it being in Burnley! :(

a quick update - the first one I saw (at £9900) has been fixed - apparently the MAF sensor. Is this likely?

Cheers
