chatter noise

just been reading through a few threads, my ibiza been chattering on boost, what could the problem be??

changed most the boost pipe today for forge stuff!

only other thing i can think of is the DV??

any help please as i know its not good for it???

yeah your DV is knackered. you mite as well get a forge one as youll never have to replace it again.

i already have a forge one, had it for about 16 months now,

cars been sat for 4 and half months though, so wondering if its seized or summin????

doubt it

possible but more likely a leak somewhere else. check all the vac hoses are connected

Do a leak test on the DV.

done leak test and DV is fine, checked all the hoses and it all seems ok,

i've got no idea now, all can think off is is the exhaust is blowing slightlyjust behind the cat, thought it could be that blowing when on boost? but think am just clutchin at straws!!!

if its not a normal sound then theres bound to be a leak somewhere either in the turbo plumbing or in the exhaust..but you said it sounds like chatter...so wouldnt be exhaust

just annoying me now as cant find what it is, when get it on a ramp cant get it to do it as not any load on the engine, only does it on boost and on load,

its a difficult noise to describe, it sounds like air being released from somewhere but in pulses, very quick pulses

have you noticed any difference in performace? or had vag com look at it to suggest an air leak?

wg chatter sounds like a fluttering sound, fairly loud
normal leaks sort of just make a raspy sound
depends on how loud and if performance is affected i guess

performance doesnt seem to be affected. although its had been off the road for 4 and half months! its fairly loud, can hear it outside quite loudly.

the sound you are describing when on boost sounds similar to my problem last week, was only getting noise on boost, not on idle so ramps were pointless
are you losing pressure just after peak boost?

mine was and it turned out to be turbo to manifold gasket, didnt chatter though, just made the noise you described on boost

that could be it you know, as had it off while it was off the road as the head gasket had gone!

not really, some days it seems to not even make the noise but then otheres its really loud

sorted it now!!! YAY

was one of the bolts for the turbo to manifold! ya could move it with your fingers was so loose!! tweeked them all up now and its fine!! cheers for all advise!

What turbo do you have for 3 studs?

I have 4 on mine, and my gasket looked in similar state when I prized it off on Christmas Eve!!

its the manifold to turbo one, theres three there, just behind the head ya can see em
