Turbo/boost spike - Remapped FR Tdi

not sure if anyone else still has had the same problem but the turbo keeps spiking when accelerating hard, now i dont floor the car below 2k and change at 4100rpm, or around that mark.

its happended twice in two days but has happended in a while, i did contact the place where i had the map done (dervdoctor) and they said it was because the car was new, but the car has now covered 6700 miles and still does it when driving hard but its not very often i do drive hard.

is it just a case of waiting for everything to loosen up or is the map asking too much or is it somehting else?

would it be worth using the standard map to see how it goes?

What do youy mean by spiking?

Is it going into limp mode?

Mine was mapped at dervdoctor, and imho the service was very poor, it took them 3 hours to map and it kept going into limp mode, so i had to get it tweaked at the top end as the requested vs actual boost was different.

Speak to JBS as they are the ones that write the CC maps.

yeah that sounds about right, it goes into limp home mode.

did dervdoctor alter the map for you and what did you ask for?

i took it back and told them it was overboosting at high revs, they said no it was omething else.

After ages on the phone to JBS they suddenly, decided it was the map, they tried saying it was due to my exhaust etc.

In the end they emailed the map to James at JBS and he dropped the boost at high revs and altered the safe limits i think.

Not been into limp mode since. apart form summer when intake temps hit 95 degrees!!

Speak to *** as they are the ones that write the ** maps.

The petrol maps are writtern by Guy Frieling http://www.frieling-racing.com/index800.htm who owns 50% of ** and the diesel maps are bought in. The other 50% of ** is owned by James *********** who just happens to own ***.

I hope its not the BLT engine problem coming out mate, a lot of the Fabia VRS owners are having problems pre and post map with that

so basically jbs/cc just buy the maps from guy then download the software to customers cars? how do they do big turbo stuff then?

Im sure CC 'Buy In' Their maps like 99.5% of businesses 'buy in' their work force... They will pay a salary to Skilled Contractors or Permanent staff to do the work. CC give them the map to work on; their workers give back the map which finally goes on your car to be tweaked.....

Anyway back to topic...

called into JBS today and spoke to mike, they took a copy of the map off the car to have a look at it and discovered it was not a custom code remap and was infact derv doctors own map

to cut a long story short, taking th car back to derv doctor on wednesday afternoon to sort out the map and so will take it from there and hopefully should then be sorted.

If they sold you the wrong thing mate get your money back, thats just not on and down right dishonest to both you and CC - get it done at JBS... Theyre about 20 miles closer to home too!

If the car is going into limp/overboost then the map is at fault 100%

There are some maps that are probabaly not changed and should be.

This should have been done from the set off,when the map was written.

Do you have a copy of the map ???

What is the exact model of your car ??

i dont have a copy of the map as i dont have right equipment to do it although JBS did take a copy of the map yesterday.

the car is a Ibiza FR Tdi 06 (its does have the BLT engine).

If you can get a copy of the map i can tell you the problem with the file .
Or call over to york and ill edit the map for you and try and fix the problem.

Nipped to derv doctor today and all sorted now, gave it a good run on the way back to see if i could repeat the problem and it was fine.

derv doctor say it was only just going over the boost limitation by a few psi? so just altered boost and fueling on map.

bell - thanks for offering your help but it was upto derv doctor to fix it as its there map, it nice to know there is people out there willing to help when a prob occurs.
