if you find or know of any vw/audi/seat local specialists post them up

waiting to hear back from performancedriven.co.uk - bit further but if they are good could be worth it

Insurance wise you normally call your insurance company and tell them you want insuring on the new motor. In my case they sent a cover note to the dealer and he taxed it from there. All you should have to do is go and collect the car.

Anyone can tax your car as long as they have the right documents (MOT if req'd, insurance docs and V5).

You could sign the paper work for the car and get the new owner slip from the dealer and then go and get it taxed yourself. You need to fill in a V10 at the nearest Post Office.

The two i was thinking of were PD Cars on gloucester road, a m8 of mine has his a4 1.8t serviced there and he seems to get on well with them. The other was in filton near the MOD building but i can't remember the name.

Mite give both a call when i need a service and see what they say.

I would have thought they could tax the car for me too, but they said there were unable to do it as they weren't down as a registered owner etc. My insurance is all sorted now, just gotta wait for all the cover notes etc then i can go and pick it up. May get lucky and have the docs through tommorro but don't think its v likely.
