I was talking to a mate who is big on cossie's and we spoke last night about would it be possible to convert the Ibiza Cupra to a cossie lump with 4WD. If so how much work would be involved and would the engine fit.

It was one of thos if I came in to money and wanted to make the ultimate Ibiza converstion convo's.

why not just tune the 20vt lump, look at bills for example, 400bhp + available, and its never gonna be 4wd so dont bother

lol i love questions like this :)

would be good though!!! would take alot of work, time and money to sort it out but i think a 4wd ibiza could definately get the power to the tarmac!!! You might have a bit of a problem tryin to squeeze a transfer box in somewhere though..........

it's not hard, just prohibitavly expensive.

straightforward cutting out most of the floorpan of the car & welding in subframes to hold engine/box/suspension/diff

won't see change of 10k

Cossie into the beezer would go but you would be better off using a VAG lump as some parts would be similar so much simpler (when designing the cars vags use one approach whereas fords use another, so best to keep like for like). Much better to drop it into a fiesta tho. So far we have dropped an RS lump in a mk5 fiesta (350bhp), Cossie in a mk4 escort van, cossie in a mk1 escort with space frame (cheapest so far!), rs in a mk1 and mk2 fiesta so its very simple in the fords. Ibiza bay would need to be chopped to get it in and a decent suspension to hold everything up etc.

My mates got a cosworthed transit van quick as anything with all power to the rear.
We were just talking about converstions because he has got back a 450bhp cosworth engine back from being rebuilt today and the car it was going in has some issues so we were discussing if it would work. Plus it was just the idea of a ibiza with 450bhp and 4WD it would be quite a daddy.

Look at the dimensions of the Golf Rallye,25mm difference in wheel base length, couple of mm's in track, weld in the floorpan, use the fuel tank etc.Anything is possible if you have the time & money(was thinking about this route for mine after my son bought a 20vt Rallye, but would need another turbo upgrade due to increased weight).

why bother with a cossie lump anyways they aint all that brilliant, always something wrong with them as my dads had one. As mentioned your better off tuning up the 20vt and just gettin a 4wd conversion. Also to do what you want changing the floor pans etc is a bitch and aint worth the hassel!

if its hard to do then its not worth doing - my fav expression :)

Hold on hold we were just talking about it not like ive got £7,000 + for a cossie engine and then £10k plus for the conversion.

What other engines could be put in there. How about a Audi RS6 engine would that fit??
