Not a great day for the cupra yesterday! Got a 6" crack across my windscreen which got bigger and bigger every mile i drove!
Then while parked up for bout 20mins with the engine running it started to overheat, which had never happened befor.
Then when i got home and stoped the engine and locked the car, i noticed it wasnt cooling down like it always has done.

There are no lights on the dash apart from the red one and a loud beep when it started over heating!
Any ideas of wats up guys???

Thanx

Just wondering whether your radiator fan is coming on? Do you know about the fuse issue with the Mk3?

the right hand fuse on top of your battery that controls the Radiator fan and AC has a habit of blowing, that is the first thing i'd check. Its a 30A one.

Yes it is.

There is a plastic cover on top of your battery, squeeze the sides to together and lift it up, you should see three green fuses underneath, the one that you need to look at is the right hand one. Like i said this might be the problem. I've experienced this and so have a few other people.

You first notice it when your AC is not cold anymore (i have mine on all the time) so when thats the case i pop the bonnet and have a look, since i've had my car (July this year) its gone twice so i keep a small stash of fuses in my car.

sounds like a fuse, Mine was over heating in the summer due to a fuse. It stopped the fan kicking in. Got it sorted in the end tho

Its an absolute pain to try and get out, but you should be able to see if the metal element inside is blown.

With mine, the fuse had melted so much that the plastic had covered the contacts in the fuse holder, so i do need to get a replacement, althought for the time being i did manage to clean them

Is the radiator fan the one u can hear when u usualy switch the engine off?,
wasnt aware of the problem, is this fuse easy to find and check?

That is the auxilary water pump you can hear when you switch off not the radiator fan !!
