What pressure were you running at the back before you put the hifi in?

cuprablue[/QUOTE

33 and sometimes less all round, only really noticed the difference recently and did a search on here - have to admit to being a complete idiot and not adjusting the pressures - sorted out the handling a treat. The problem was i didn't fit it all at once, it was over a period of a couple of months - just forgot to add up the extra weight :)

I know what you mean, its hard to explain isnt it....my LCR is the same as you discribe, been doing it since i had a track rod end replaced, i was told it needs the front subframe re aligning (50 quid) but my steering wheel does not sit dead centre in a straigh line now either...i had the toe adjusted on a 4 wheel aligner, and thay told me thats all they could do to fix it?/????? then i get told that the subframe is to blame, why didnt the so called "experts" on the 4 wheel aligner tell me this when they were trying to sort it out for me?? wonder if someone else can shead light on this, as....?

My LCR sounds exactly like that and similar symptons to what cuprablue mentions, off centre steering wheel, bad pull to the left all the time and a loose feeling to the steering in general at speed.

I have had a SEAT main dealer carry out their own version of 4 wheel alignment (optiflex) twice in the last few months and the problems still persist. I have today visited a different SEAT dealer and they did an inspection of the suspension components that tend to be the usual suspects, ie wishbone bushes, track rod ends etc and they could find nothing wrong. Thankfully they have not just fobbed me off, they have taken ownership and going to contact SEAT technicial department to raise the issue and obtain advice on the best course of action rather than just do another 4 wheel alignment and hope for the best like the previous two occasions.

I wonder  if it could be a subframe issue too because if the suspension components are fine and the geometry check readings are supposedly correct, what else could it be?

I will post an update as soon as I hear back from the dealer.

Cheers

Bang In The Middle.
Rich & cuprablue. ill second that too.

front end on LCR feels like its '' floating'' over any uneven surface esp at speed.
Its on H&R coilovers & full camber,4 wheel traction ect sorted by JBS but still that ''loose'' feeling.

bent track rod ends comes to mind as its said before.

Ah im glad im not the only one that finds this, and is having this type of problem too, will be interesting to see what they say, I was going to book in at Big Boys Toys to see if they could solve it, they seemed to know what the problem was when i explained it to them so if i get it sorted i will post up too.

Cheers Matt, I hope you get it sorted out. The new dealer I am using has spoken to SEAT UK who have said that another 4 wheel alignment will need doing as they need the dealer to then report if the problems persist. I just want the car to handle like it used to and if this new dealer sorts it out in conjunction with SEAT UK I will be happy.

The alignment is booked in for a couple of weeks so when it's done I will post another update.

Update time: Over the last week my LCR has been back to the main dealers 3 times. It has had 4 wheel alignment which confusingly did not improve the handling problems, in fact made it worse and also resulted in the steering wheel to be badly off centre.

The problem was found to be that the sub frame was out of line and so the car had a kind of 'crabbing' effect which made it want to constantly pull to the left, this made the car understeer badly, more so on right hand bends so roundabouts were always a handful.

After adjustments were carried out on the subframe alignment yesterday the handling has improved slightly and no longer feels dangerous as such but to me still doesn't feel right. It does feel more secure on the road but I notice the steering wheel is still not dead centre. I also tested the car this morning properly as the fog was too bad yesterday to get an idea and it still pulls to the left [:@] even on a flat smooth road with no noticeable camber. I placed the car on the crown of the road and the pull was still evident. At say 40 miles an hour I would be getting very close to the curb within about 25 yards which surely isn't right.

At higher speeds the pull is greater still and so I am having to compensate for this all the time, surely I shouldn't have too, the car used to be spot on and nothing has happened to the car to make it have these problems, ie no curbing or other accident damage. It just feels that the car constantly wants to chuck me in hedges on the left hand side and so my confidence in the car is not high at the moment!

I don't know which way to turn really as the SEAT dealer have said they have exhausted all options that they can think of, and after checking all components can find no worn or damaged parts in the suspension system.

When I left the dealer yesterday they told me to let them know if I am still not happy with the car but although they have been helpful I don't know if there is much more they can do. What do you think I should do, will the dealer be able to get SEAT UK involved, do SEAT UK have a master technician or someone that can sort out all problems when a dealer admits defeat?

Has anyone dealt with a SEAT dealer who is a total expert with setting up LCR's and has sorted similar handling problems out on your own car, please let me know as I could ask my SEAT dealer to speak with them. To his credit the Service Manager has been very helpful and has given the impression he wants to sort the car out. This is the 2nd main dealer I have used to help sort out these handling issues. The car is under warranty until September 07 and to date I have spent about £300 over the last 6 months on wheel alignments but still no joy!

Sorry for this epic post by the way!:)
