I had my 1.8 petrol cupra for 60,000 miles and averaged around 28 mpg. It was such fun to drive thats it hard to keep to the speed limit. Got a diesel cupra now which driven the same way is averaging 45mpg. No point in owning a cupra and not hoofing it when the urge takes you.
Mind you some folks have bigger hoofs that others?

In reply to that Brucel i managed 14.5mpg from Llandudno to Crewe the other night 70 miles!! Got three points on the way though so nothing to brag about!!!!

I drove to work this morning like the pope not letting the revs go above 1800 and only managed 22mpg.

That's stop start all the way though which must make a huge difference.

The mpg is really bad first thing in the morning though isn't it

You will never get a decent mpg figure on short distances, mine averages about 21 on the queueing to the motorway but once on and crusing around 80 it will average at about 31 after 20 miles of mway!

I get around 34mpg doing about 160 miles a week, which seems reasonable to me!!
