i bought my car back in june i drive 100 miles aday and i lasted 2 months before putting my strut brace on (seat momo one supplied and fitted by fez boy on here) and have has it on ever since i noticed the difference straight away i went for a hard drive down the normal road to work (i was going to my mums as its the same direction) and at everyt round about and every bend the car stayed flatter and i could go faster than before as the car rolled to much

Interesting read!

How does the brace make you get (more) oversteer?

Is a strut brace worth it ? Yes
Is the suspension crap on a PD130 ? Yes
Does a strut brace stop a car rolling around corners ? NO
How do you stop a car rolling around corners ? Fit an uprated ARB ( thats Anti Roll Bar for the Smee`s in the world ;) ) and fit better suspension.

Nice avvy picture mate  :p

I fitted the strut brace, and it did make a difference, but as mentioned help the front end get grip, meaning I suffered from more over steer.

This was on standard suspension, and tbh I dont think its "crap" I also dont think it was "good" mind.

Just buy one, its all good and will mean your car is "reet fast" :D

I quite fancy getting a seat strut brace for my Ibiza.

I've done a search and most people say it's for looks only :( but some say they noticed a slight handling improvement :) .

So, is this 'slight' improvement worth £50 or is it better spent on something else?

Thanks

id also like to point out he wasnt on about changing suspension he wanted to know what difference a strut brace made to his already setup car

and i stand by what i have said so far

Rattle? I have no such rattle.... i'd be worried if there was...

As far as I know its quite common. Its only the airbox hitting off the brace due to its vibration when you move off. Only happens for a fraction of a second in 1st. Certainly not worried about it.

put some washers under the n/s strut 13mm bolts, should hold it slightly higher then you wont get this rattle!

i thought it was the engine cover not the airbox, as mine doesn't move that much, if you get the rattle try taking the engine cover off first, or just put i half inch strip of pipe lagging on the under side of the brace, you'll hardly see it and it'll keep the bay looking tidy IMO

i've got this pic on file but none of the full thing plus it's dark out now, as you can just about see no drilling just undo 2 of the 3 bolts either side put brace inplace and screw bolts up, worth checking with a torque wrench at some point juse to make sure they are tight enough but as long as you give them a good twist but not OTT they should be allright, that and my pd160 intake are the best £ for £ mods i've done

ps ignore the screws i've marked there part of my how to install intake tutoral

there is no drilling or tinkering just take out two of the 3 strut bolts and place strut brace over the struts and put bolts back in and tighten them up to the correct torque
