cigarette lighter not working??

plugged my sat nav in lighter socket today, and there was no power coming from it, so i then tried plugging in the lighter, and still no joy,

im thinking it may be a fuse which has gone?? if so where abouts is the fuse? or should i take it to seat to sort out?

Not sure what number fuse it will be.

Open the driver's door on the end of the dashboard theres cover that comes off, just get your fingers round the edge and pull it, behind there are the fuse's.

im having similar problems but if i waggle the plug while in the socket it works sometimes :S

i had the same problem open up the fusebox by removing the pannel at the end of the dash and there will be a little card with fuse numbers on find which fuse it is take it out and have a look at it

sometimes you will find a small fuse built into the plug of the satnav/charger or whatever you are plugging into the socket

whoops, passenger side or driver side??

drivers side the sort of triangular pannel that you can only see when the door is open

Id check the end of the Tom Tom plug first if i where you chap usually a glass cased fuse so you will be able to see very easily.

If the cigarette lighter's not working either, then it must be the supply

as said earlier try rotating the plug, mine is really tempremental and has to be set a certain angle/point

hehe i find the cigarette adapter plugs terrible. I mean they were initially designed for cigarette lighters but now we plug allsorts into them. Im suprsied there hasnt been a new better, smaller, sturdier design of car power outlets.

did you ever look into this MPM? do you know what number the fuse for the lighter is?

checked the lighter in the boot and that doesnt work either, does anyone know the fuse number for the 12v lighter (in the dash near steering wheel) ive checked em all and they seem to be ok could it be anything else causing both of them not to work?
