Did you already try to remove that balancing weight?

What are your shafts like then??

In that pic he has removed the weight? I havnt removed it because i thought it mite cause problems?

do u think that might be the cause of my problem, whenever i turn left i get a nasty rubbing, but its hitting off nothing.
ive had no rubbing problems, or suspension problems, only wen i turn left it clips pretty much constantly until i straighten up.

so u say this balancing weight on the right hand side could be getting clipped?

Nope, i would say that you dont have original wheels??Which dimension of rims/tires you have? I had before in front 7,5" et35 and now i have 9" et10 and in both cases the wheel rubs when you turn steering wheel on max.(for example when you park the car)
Maybe you can solve the problem with spacers?I cant put spacers because wheels already now looks to much out

Thats my problem, get your wheel off and see if its catching. Mine only does it on left turns too.

Anyone advise me not to cut off that balancing weight??????

This is on a PI 40/40 Springs only Kit, The rear has dropped a lot more than the front.

I advise you TO cut it off

I have picked up my coilover kit yesterday from "Dan-16v" and he had the same problem as you. So he asked a garage for advice and they told it to just cut it off. Apparently when they fit new driveshafts to cars they hardly ever re-fit the balancing weight. So get the hacksaw out and get hacking and drop the car even lower.

p.s. Can't wait to fit the coilovers, but got to wait till Xmas coz they are a pressie

Apparently when they fit new driveshafts to cars they hardly ever re-fit the balancing weight. So get the hacksaw out and get hacking and drop the car even lower.

p.s. Can't wait to fit the coilovers, but got to wait till Xmas coz they are a pressie

You deffinatly need a grinder, its quite thick. Only took it down another 5mm on the thread, will go down some more tomorow if everthing is ok.

Nice. How far away is middle of the splitter from the ground?? 5cm? 10cm??

When I go to lower mine I will need to leave about 11cm clearance as I use the car every day and going into and out of my Uni carpark involves going over 7 speedbumps, ouch. Multiply that by about 4 which means I'll be going over about 28 speedbumps a day.......with coilovers, ouch. But its all part of the fun and games

Dont worry about catching the splitter too much. If your going over speedbumpes, it shouldnt rip it off, just scrap.

Its your exhuast and chassis you need to be careful of!!!

Just measured the splitter, 12cm to the ground. Dont forget mine isnt as deep as the cupra one. Theres a new problem though when i dry steer theres a knocking, dosnt do it whilst driving.

Well theres an easy solution to that one............. jost dont dry steer.

Sorry to dig this old thread back up but there is an update.............I have fitted my coilovers now While we were changing the front suspension we also angle grinded off the driveshaft balancing weight (almost lost a thumb). The first time we lowered it, the front wheels were about 1cm inside the arch. So no surprise it was rubbing around every single bend. So off came the wheels and we raised it about 20mm. So now there is a 10mm gap between the top of the front tyre, and the arch lip. Pretty happy with it (still looks **** hot), BUT, my wheels are catching on the inside of the arch moulding (random 5x10cm moulding that just sticks into the plastic arch) when I apply full lock and try to drive. Has anyone got the same problem?? What did you do??
