I have a Laguna intercooler, and all the silicone and metal pipework as suggested by Flash. I even have the hose joiners and jubilee clips but lack of know-how to get it on and get it central. As I'm down in Devon it's dificult knowing where to go but I just found out Vagtech are 12 miles from my Gran's house, time to visit Granny I think

Im sure shes gonna say 'what a f*ckin liberty' lol
Do it!
suns shining today so might see if i can get some more pics of it :)

hello, the laguna intercooler looks so so much better being centrally located, well done to you nogutsnoglory for being the first to accomplish this it looks sweet:clap: , i am certainly interested in this mod myself now, as for sure that it can be made to sit right in the bumper.will prob use vagtech myself.

could anybody provide me with the renault part no for the dci intercooler?

and where is the best place to buy the silicone hose kit as a complete package?

cheers for your help!\ sorry to sort of hijack thread a little lol

Thanks :D Im really impressed with it, I wanted an effective mod for budget cost and still prob would have done it regardless of it being central, as didnt know it was possible until Vagtech made it work.
Also I think I should mention thanks to people like Flashbsd who instigated the guide in the first place, I give a big thumbs up to anyone who spends time modding their own car and then helping others get the same benefits.

Hey, here's a couple of pics of yet another conversion.
Thanks to everyone on here to give me the inspiration to do it and thanks to Nick (Wazo) over on SEATforums for helping me out. As you'll see, with a few bumper modifcations we got it to sit dead central
I could do with replacing the original rubber 90 degree bend still on there but apart from that it looks a good fit :)

...come on do tell! What exactly needed to be cut/chopped to get it fitting central!

Cheers ;)

It's hard to explain but there's plenty of room on the right side (looking at the front of the car) but it's restricted on the left because the rads are more forward that side. We grinded off the bumper screw bracket on the left side behind the crash bar and also cut down where the 45 degree bar meets it. We didn't cut the top of that bar as it's now free to bend and looks stock when the intercooler is in front of it. We then wedged the intercooler up as far as we could and the top of it sits about 2mm below the top of the crash bar (the top of the rounded back, not the lip which sticks up). At that height the towing eye bracket didn't cause any problems at all but you will need a Cupra R splitter to hide and protect the bottom few mm of the intercooler. As Nick and I discussed, it seems every car is slightly different. When refitting the bumper there's loads of room on the right side but you have some trimming of the bumper to do on the left side because of the intercooler tank being more bulky that side. You just have to offer the bumper on a few times and see what needs trimming. I hope that helps.

I guess it's trial and error, keep trimming untill its snug!! Do you have any pics with the bumper off just to give every one a little guide for the alignment?? ;)

Cheers

use the larger centre hole on the crash bar to line it up horizontally.

Cheers will do, I'll have a go on the weekend due to the dark nights :thumbd: and try and get some pics if all goes well!!

Its great so many peeps are going down this route...

Just so you know... I had my car logged by one of the main boss lads on Sunday... intake temps were around 27°C-30°C... not bad if I may say so...its a great mod!
