How Low Should I Go? Pics PLEASE!

Hey all, ok my car is pretty much standard bar the Magnex exhaust system but seeing as my cherished Cupra is coming out of the spray place this wed i wanna treat the motor to a new suspension set up.

Here's my problem - how low?

Im going to go the full kit but im undecided on what drop i should go for.

So....

Could i please please please have pics of Mk2 Ibiza's that have been lowered on 16" rims stating what drop, suspension etc etc there on.

m8,go for coilovers if your upgrading the body work,you can pic and choose what stance your after

Rubs on that weight when cornering hard, would love to take it down even more. The splitter hasnt got a mark on it god damm it

Be careful how low you do go.

You may find your car scrapes alot and your arches take a hammering. So unless you cut your arches out or widen then then you do have certain limits.

The lower you go on coilovers the softer the ride so you will get more bodyroll and more inner arch catching potential.

I wound my coilovers back up because it was doin my head in scraping around every corner.

I have dropped my 16V 60/40 on Avo Road sport adjustable dampening shocks and i have only been impressed, no hassle to fit and they have not rubbed once - 60/60 would be best i think but i like my leaning forward (i am gonna ram you) stance!

I have just won a set of coilies on Ebay, but have been reading some scary stories about the wheel rubbing against the arch lining, where there is a moulded bulge for the airbox mount. And also the drive shafts balancing weights catching/rubbing. How low do you have to go for these symptoms to start happening?I'm planning on "only" lowering by 50mm, so will this happen to me as well?

I really dont think so mate, mine is 60mm drop and it is honestly fine, it looks the hieght it should have been originally, a standard cupra looks like a monster tuck its so high, 60mm is just right, it doesnt look 'slammed' - not too high not too low, just right

The balancing weight problem will be me
All depends how much you wind them down mate, id say im way past 50mm so dont worry.

Cool, cheers for that. Will probably have to take off my LCR splitter tho, and start parking outside Uni, because I dont think it will go up the Multi-story carpark. And am not sure just how speedbump friendly its going to be , so its gona be completely impractical. But it should look PHAT and handle well

I'm guessing 50mm is the distance im wanting to lower by.

So..

Will i have to coilovers or is there a kit out there what lowers the car by this?

I'd look but im at work and really don't want to get caught on the net!! lol.

The only problem I've had is damage to the sump drain plug suround.

Oh and I don't recomend any off roading, although it did a good job of mowing and ploughing the verge, when i had a blow out on the front tyre it was either the verve and hedge or the car coming the other way.!!!!

Personally I would recommend coilovers, because of the adjustability to suit your preferences.
Also if you damage them like I've have with my off road jaunt! they can be repaired for less than a new set of standard shocks.

Also save up for some polybushes to go with them.

I don't seem to get any body roll when cornering hard.

Mine has AVO coilovers on it.
