Anyone running a Mocal oil cooler? Or any other oil cooler? Been looking into it and the only viable option seems to be running a sandwich plate, however there isn't much room around the standard filter at the moment anyway!

If you've fitted a sandwich plate what did you do with the standard oil cooler, did you bypass it or leave it in place? Ideally i'd like to leave it as all my gauges are running off it, and the sandwich plates don't seem to take this into account.

If you have fitted a sandwich plate and kept the OEM water jacket did you have to run a shorter oil filter, if so what did you use?

Not yet, only started looking into it again tonight and last time I thought about it, it was just a spur of the moment thing. This time I'd like to make some progress with the idea!

you leave the top part with your sensors in it.
you rmeove the water/oil cooler part, blank off the water pipes, fit your sandwich plate (thermostatic) and refit oil filter. running lines to whereever you want to fit the cooler core.

Ahh right so the top housing can be seperated from the water jacket, never looked at it enough to spot that. Did you just blank off the pipes at the source, or join them together?

Was looking at the thermostatic plates, there pre-set to 80 degree's however should you need it you can get different temperature ratings, did you just use the standard 80 degree plate? My oil in the sump rarely gets past 70 degree's however as soon as you come onto boost that soon changes.

What row oil cooler are you running? Theres the standard 13 row cooler, then theres the wider version for higher power applications trying to decide which i'll need, especially if I go into the 300bhp bracket. I take it you are still using the OEM filter too?

13 row cooler on mine I think.
Jabba installed this back last october when the new engine was being built - so much easier to do out of the car.
I think std stat.

Just like std mate you'll get a 3/4 UNF extention pipe with the sandwich plate. The filter just bolts straight on.

Just a tip go for a male jic fitting on the cooler, this gives you the option of using either cheap push fit hose or the better braided hose.

Its should not be more than £150 all in if you use push fit hose and a mocal oil cooler. However im using an audi rs4 cooler which is a bit more expensive but neater install.
