ouch!!
sorry to see mate
at least it'll be a 3rd party no liability claim for you :)

It'll still cost me, I've been hit in the rear before and it put my insurance up as 'I had been involved in an acident' so I was classed as a 'higher risk person'!!! £50 extra please!!!

I have also decided to never discus my car with any one ever again. I was discussing my Alfa with some one and commented how well she was running just hours before a cam shaft bearing failed leading to a bent con rod and seized engine. Yesterday I was asked if I would change my car for the new Cupra, I said no, I loved my LCR and would only change her if she was damaged as a repaired car was never the same as before, and low and behold a few hours later she's rammed from behind!!!

Have to agree with you on this, I'm OK and so is my passenger so I wont be making any medical related claims.

Dude ur mad that could be around 2k added to the old bank balance. I understand what some of you guys are on about "screwing each other over.." but by you not claiming wont make a small bit of difference. Put it this way you think she would do the same if it was the other way round??
Sorry bout the car bet u gutted but good news your and passanger are alrite .

the very reason why insurance is so fecking expensive.if its deserved then fine,i just hate the way britain is now just full of people and companies willing to screw each other over for the sake of it.

I got whiplash from a rear-ender and the pay out was contested by the opposing insurance. I finally won a grand in court - the solicitor, who was generally sh*t got legal costs of £3750. They sent about 6 letters and filed the court claim. That's where the real money is going!

I know what you're saying, but as I got going again I passed another accident with an ambulance in attendance, there's more to life than money, just glad I'm not being karted off in a blood wagon. We're ok and you have to accept that in life accidents happen, life is too short to spend working out how I can get the most out of them. (Even I'm surprised how calm I am about this considering how much I love my car and the care I normally go too to protect her).

My first reaction was anger, then I thought the driver of the other car was hurt and my priorities changed to their safety. It turned out they were just in shock but not physically hurt, after then I was just glad that we were all ok. now in the cold light of day I look at my car and do want to cry, but then remember I a bloke and so have no real emotions, so go and have another beer instead,

Thats really gutting mate, but can agree with you look on the good side no one was hurt and it wasnt a major rear ended and can be repaired..

Thats why you should buy bright colours (yellow cough cough). cant miss it.

Any one recomend a good crash repair shop in the Newbury area, or know any I should avoid?

NCR bodyshop in Newbury replaced my LCR door,a few weeks back, after some dork forgot how to park. Perfect paint match up ( same colour as yours), no leaks, interior fitted back perfect, no rattles etc. All in all a pretty good job, they do a lot of work for different insurers by all accounts.

01635 277 377 if you want to give them a call.

Sorry to hear that. This has almost happened to me before years back. Now when there is slowing traffic I put my hazard warnings on ASAP. I think this reduces the risks slightly.

And also, when you get the car repaired, pay very close attention to detail....

1. As you will need a new quarter, ensure that the welds between panels are poker staight. Its a dead give away that a car has had a new panel when there is even the slightest waver in a weld.
2. Also make sure the gaps and panels are identical to the other side.
3. Make sure there are no leaks because of poor fitting panels.
4. Make sure the boot shuts without excessive force.

These are all points that any high quality repairer should pay attention to, but believe me most will not bother. A tip is to mention all this to the repairer, then you should get special attention as they know they can't get away with it.

Good luck mate and the most important thing is you are ok.

was this in the am / pm rush hour? was she (the driver who hit you) busy checking her hair / make-up / teeth instead of watching the road ahead? before you all go crazy at me i've seen it happen. driving to work x months ago i noticed the woman driving behind me was looking in her rear view ... but not at the following traffic. i'm kind of paranoid about slowing for junctions / roundabouts these days so i don't just slam my brakes on last minute, i tend to brake sooner and more gently i.e. a gradual stop. then i leave approx 1 car length between me and car in front so i can at least attempt to move if the car behind me is showing no sign of stopping.

the woman i mentioned above? had to slam her brakes on ... reckon she stopped about a foot from my car.

Dont forget as its her fault you could go to Helphire or similar, get a decent hire car and they'll do the repair without contacting your insurance (if she owns up)
