Ok so i posted this in MK3 Ibiza forum as didin't realise there was a specific forum which is great!!!!!

Ok so i have a Flash red cupra, red being a nightmare colour to keep looking real smart. Up until now i have been a wash and Autoglym polish type of man but i am starting to want a bit more.

I would really love to get that deep glass like shine on my car but don't know where to start. I use Meguiars car shampoo which seems good and a lot of people rave about meguiars but when i went to my local shop the range of waxes, polish, bars, etc etc etc was completely confusing !!!

Can anyone suggest a good cleaning regime without paying £200 for a tub of wax!!! I am sure there are some of you guys out there with a real good knowledge of detailing etc - any pictures of flash red cupras would be welcomed so i can see what i will acheive by usig certain products.

Couple of the guys have suggested washing car twice as normal.

Then Meguiars Clay bar - covering the whole car and leaving on for 10 minutes.

After this then using Autoglym synthetic gloss for the glass like shine.

Any observations on this??

Cheers guys

Thats helpful when you refer to paint cleaner and in this instance Megs stage one what exactly is this??

What does AG SRP stand for??

And i am guessing Poorboys is the make of the polish??

Sorry for the questions but want to order a load of stuff in to clean the car on the weekend.

Cheers

Without wanting to sound patronising, your method of applying and removing these products (ie Technique and cloths/pads) is as important as the choice of products themselves.

Have a search or feel free to ask further questions, the last thing you wanna do is get all the right gear then make a hash of the finish.

If you've already stocked up on micro-fibres and applicator pads then ignore me and get polishing :)

Cheers finerdetails - will get some pics posted once done.

Tallpaul - no fair comment mate not patronising at all, got me microfibres need to get some applicator pads though.

Any tips on applying/removing??

Having only ever been an autoglym 'quick polish all round' man i have an 'on' and an 'off' cloth!!! Any particular process/style of applying and removing??

I've got red and the Meg's NXT tech wax brings it up great! To be honest though I find red a really easy colour to maintain compared to other colours especially black, and it looks fantastic when clean.
