Ok so i have a Flash red cupra, red being a nightmare colour to keep looking real smart. Up until now i have been a wash and Autoglym polish type of man but i am starting to want a bit more.

I would really love to get that deep glass like shine on my car but don't know where to start. I use Meguiars car shampoo which seems good and a lot of people rave about meguiars but when i went to my local shop the range of waxes, polish, bars, etc etc etc was completely confusing:-o !!!

Can anyone suggest a good cleaning regime without paying £200 for a tub of wax!!! I am sure there are some of you guys out there with a real good knowledge of detailing etc - any pictures of flash red cupras would be welcomed so i can see what i will acheive by usig certain products.

Cheers guys

when we cleaned a mk3 flash red..

buy megs clay it will need it then autoglym synthetic gloss is perfect.

so wash it twice

dry using microfibre towels

claybar the whole car.

polish

then layer of gloss 30mins wipe off, re do 12hours later and it'll be v shiny and smooth asglass,

the clay works wonders!

also always use microfibre EVERYTHING!

Thats great - will go on the hunt for the materials needed, are there any on-line suppliers of these products where any savings can be made??

It may sound like a silly question but up until now i have just been a wash and a polish guy - when you say 'clay bar the whole car' what does this exactly involve?? And how do i apply this bar??

Redcupratdi - is that pictures of the results in your little profile image??

Cheers

Sounds good, do you have any pics of it?

Is this the clay bar you were referring too??

http://www.meguiars.co.uk/cgi-bin/catalog.pl?cat=ENT_SURFACE#2

Can't copy and paste the link for Autoglym - is it called 'Extra Gloss Protection'??

It says -
Autoglym Extra Gloss protection is an extra tough protective sealant that contains a complex blend of hard resins and waxes.

Sounds like the right one to me?!?

I've never tried the Meguires clay. I will give it a go now though as I keep hearing good reports.
