Picked up the LCR today. Sorry no pics as yet. P/X my Corsa 1.8 SRi for it on a 55 plate and only done 2500 miles in Luna Grey.

Please can someone answer the below or help me out a little :)

First of all does everyones Cupra R manual only seem to cover generic models in the Leon range?. The back of the manual has specs only for the 180 cupra and even the 4wd version. No 210 or 225?. I thought there would be a section for Cupra R only etc...?

Next I got 2 keys with the car one remote and one normal key. However when I got back the manual says I should have got a tag with the immobilser code and key number on it. The dealer I got it from (Non Seat) did not have this.
I wish to do the delocking and fuse moving but would have more peace of mind if I had a spare remote fob incase of damage etc.. So my question is this, first of all can I get the spare normal key converted to a remote fob without the codes?. Can the dealer sort this without the plastic tag and by using VAG com or other diagnostics?. Anyone have a rough price and what have other people done who have delocked incase the single fob breaks?

I believe the car only runs on superunleaded, optimax etc.. I had to fill up on the way back and used BP Ultimate which is 97 Ron?. Is this ok to use despite the sticker on the fuel cap stating 98?.

Sorry for the essay, just a different car than what I'm used to and I get pissed off when people don't keep all the things together and neat when coming to sell etc.. :)

There's a cupra R suppliment as well as the manual (bright yellow, cant miss it) it's only a few pages long tho as it just shows you where the towing eye is (pull of grill on drivers side), tells you not to tow and some other useless bumpf.

A new key fob can be had using vag-com but will be costly (£130?). You could just enter through the boot.

97 ron will be fine (you may loose a few bhp from timing retardign), if/when remapped i'd go to optimax tho.

To get the key coded by the dealer having the imobiliser tag and number would be handy.

I ran my car on BP ultimate for most of my LCR's life, seemed fine both before and after it was remapped.

My suggestion would be to use the spare jey to get in via the boot if the keyfob breaks, the alarm will prbably go off, it would be a pain getting in through the boot but once the key is in the ignition the alarm should stop......and you saved yourself well over £100 getting a new key ;)

Thanks for the information. The car is not mapped as yet ;) maybe next year.
Mainly cosmetic mods for now.

Yeah I knew about the key and getting through the boot but obviously then you'd not be able to lock the car if it was an inconvenient to get the fob replaced/fixed and I have delocked etc..

Can it still be coded though without the tag is the question?

Thanks for the fuel advice. I'll try use opti, (vmax) or Tescos 99 ron in the future.

opti always seems cheaper anyway. By me if i go to the bp garage down the road it's 5p a litre more than the shell garage 1.5 miles away! :-o

Ok bought a new fob off ebay that comes with programming instructions.
Now does anyone know how to release the blade so I can put the blade from my normal key into the spare fob?.

When key is half out, you can make out a small roll pin close to body of fob , push it out! have fun! also if new fob is VW one you can get new Seat "s" type button thing from dealer bout 3 quid!

Does it only come with remote unlocking instructions? Will it work with the immobiliser or is this bit left in the original key?
I realise this is what you wanted (poss. till you lose the original) but if it works 'properly' i might get one myself.

From what I can make out and I could be wrong there is only two parts to the fob.

1. the key (blade) itself.
2. the fob housing which has the immob chip.

Now the blade is being taken from the spare normal key. (no buttons)
If I can remove the blade from the fob bought on ebay by pushing on the pin (thanks stpete) then all I need to do is follow the instructions on programing the new key to my cars immobiliser. I think all the dealers do to reprogram the keys is using your own car anyway. The code for the ebay fob should be overwritten by my cars code using the instructions. The dealers charge up £70 for this programming I'm led to believe. Hopefully I'll have two working flick keys at the end of it. I'll revert back :)

Do LCR's have to be run on 97-99 ron or can they be run on normal unleaded (95 ron)

Sorry about the dumb question...

The sticker on fuel cap is 98 ron. I personally would run it on a 'super unleaded'. However I don't suppose an odd bit of 95 Ron would do it any harm if you were stuck for getting any other.

It will run on 95RON, the engine's knock sensor will adjust the timing to suit. However, for turbo petrol engines you should use the highest RON that's locally available.

I use BP Ultimate (97 RON) and it runs very smooth and the power delivery is excellent.

I would use V-power but the nearest Shell garage to me is a 25 mile round trip.

Yes, mine runs fine on 95.

It runs better on v-Power, but I don't bother with Ultimate or Tescos.

Sometimes I notice it doesn't run quite as well on 95 for a period of time, usually when the petrol prices are creeping up
