Anyone else tried this. Took my Leon TDI FR to the limit - 625 miles on a fill up and averaged 58 to the gallon - thats outstanding. Waited for the low fuel warning light to come on and drove like Miss Daisy for as long as I dared.I did 55 miles on the warning light before I lost my bottle - I dare say that there were a few miles left in her.

Finding now that after 14k miles it is really starting to loosen up and mpg and acceleration really improving:clap:

Whats the most you lads have got out of a tank without venting?

Most ive ever had is about 440 miles and thats with a lot of 70mph motorways - probably about 48mpg for the tank, although each trip registered over 55 on the clocks!

I dunno if its my crappy tuning box fuel map or what, but i know its lower when that is switched off. Maybe its time for a proper mapping rather than making all the excess diesel stick to my boot!

Im only getting around 600 out of a tank and thats with venting (around £62 worth).
Light comes on at around 540-560 and then i would go another 50-60 miles.

My Ibiza FR was better, hit 690 on one vented tank, didnt have the guts for the last 10 miles to break 700 as i wouldnt have had a garage near to fill-up!

Yeah but Lee is a nutter. I remember him proudly telling us he'd got 80mpg or something stupid out of his Rover derv during the fuel crisis. The whole of stockport was engulfed in a cloud of smog the day it ended and he finally put his foot down a bit :roflmao:

LOL yes I remember that, I couldn't beileve the figures I managed to get. But it was only possible because everyone else was driving so slowly too, don't think the accelerator ever moved past 1/4 travel....

I did get around 680 from the Ibiza once but someone did just beat me (think they might have just broken 700). I thought it was a good effort for a remapped 130 - remember they have a smaller tank than the Leon too ;)

Full tank, around £40 at current prices - 550 miles odd, depending on how many horses I use, and also whether I remember to flick the lpg on.....

In france, I also made the mistake of not filling up in Calais with 15 miles to go on the clock. Well, put it this way, I ended up driving all the way to Belgium before finding fuel. ;) Ran 20 miles odd with reserve on 0 miles to go. So, there's at least a decent amount of reserve built into the fuel tank when the miles to run out is on zero.

Fabia has a 45 litre tank. I got 52 in at that Texaco. :D

I had 5 miles showing on mine on my first long drive to England with it. Luckily it changed down from 10 as I entered Southwaite on the M6. I managed to do my 4 days at work which is about 100 miles in total, then down to Darlington and ran about there for 2 days for the BTCC before heading home without topping up, just to see how far I could get. Got about 450 miles out of it I reckon.

I topped up at MK Asda last Saturday. Drove to Brands Hatch and back to Buckingham the next day, which is 200 miles, then on Monday up to the Scotland/England border where I topped up to give me enough to get home and run about for a few days. It's saving me at least £60 on my 720 mile round trip to Buckingham, as I don't need 3 or 4 fuel stops, like previously!

I'm gonna see what figures I can achieve in 2 weeks when I'm next down that neck of the woods for the BTCC. :D

How sad am I :p

how much is the improvement with lpg on, devon? and how the lpg guy looks at you when you ask him to fill up a diesel?

Possibly 4 or 5 mpg on a long trip. Can't really claim it is a cost saving when I'm spending £12 on a tank of gas which lasts around 1000 miles.

As for funny looks, I've never really had anyone look confused. I guess they assume its a petrol, with an lpg conversion? I think once I got a weird look when I went to the cashier to pay for a tank of diesel and lpg at the same time, but they never actually asked why I was buying lpg and diesel.

£12 is not bad at all when you think how much 1000 miles of NOS would cost,,,

I asked about the weird looks since I don't know why but here in italy almost all lpg pumps are served [I mean the guy does the job for you] and you can't fill up by yourself,,, maybe they fear dumb people makin a mess and blowin up something, I don't know,,, anyway, I'd really like to see the guy's face when one asks him to fill up a diesel,,, :D
