2024 CUPRA Formentor First Look Video

First look at the new CUPRA Formentor at CUPRA HQ, UK. The new facelift model from CUPRA's biggest selling car.

We were invited up to CUPRA HQ to take a first look at the new 2024 CUPRA Formentor, the brand’s new mid-life refresh for their biggest-selling model. We also took some photos for you, which you will find below, along with more in the media gallery.

We will have a full review coming soon when we get to drive the car, in the meantime let us know what you think in the comments below.

Two questions related to the photos from the Cupra HQ:
- what's the exterior color name of the PHEV in those photos?
- how to configure the interior trim to get the light color dashboard from those pictures?

I'm asking because I've tried playing with the Formantor Configurators on German, French, Spanish (and Romanian, of course) websites, and I can't get the light color (blue-ish) dashboard and center-console with armrest...

I know this interior trim for a while now, first saw it in the video below (a 333hp VZ with Cup bucket seats), but I was not able to replicate in on any Configurator...

worth checking the UK Brochure here.
Thanks for the link. Looked at all the trims, compared with several web-Configurators on this (the wrong) side of the Channel - no clear conclusion.

Long story short... the only description that could match the interior I was asking about, is the
"CUP Bucket seats (carbon fibre backs) in textile Turbine and sides in PVC Enceladus grey" option.
It is mentioned in the brochure you linked (for VZ3 and for VZ First Edition), and also in the web-based Formentor configurators. However, neither the Brochure or the online show the seat/armrest/dashboard in light-color (probably Enceladus), but only in Black...
I asked two sales guys (at two different dealerships) with no success. In recent years I found out that I know better than them the specs and options of what they are selling.

That's a shame, yes members are usually more informed than dealers it seems!

Does anybody know if there will be VZ5 model for the new formentor?
The word on the street is SLOW 😁

Other sources say none are planned and even IF CUPRA do something more pokey it's unlikely to hit UK shores anytime soon.

ABT reworking is about as close as you get for the time being.

When the FL was announced, the information that there won't be a VZ5-FL was also forwarded.
Now one might speculate that it was a marketing strategy to boost the pre-FL VZ5 sales, but for now, AFAIK there's no VZ5 in the facelift lineup.

I think it looks good, although the price point of the performance versions that I’d consider to be the ‘proper’ Cupras is a little scary. Love the seats in @Syphon ‘s review video.

One thing I don’t like is the matte paint and it’s something I’d never want - IMHO it’s an expensive option and matte paint requires special care and maintenance to keeping looking like it did when it left the factory. I’d imagine it’s also more expensive to repair if you’re ever unfortunate enough to need any paintwork repairs.

It happens that the Formentor is the first car that I've driven so far in which I can see a good portion of the hood from my driving position. I'm 1.86m tall, I have the seat at the lowest position and quite far back (nobody would be sitting comfy behind my seat) - and still I can see the hood.
What's the problem? you might ask... Well, on my way to work early every morning, for several km I drive towards East - sun reflection on the hood is very annoying. Obviously, driving back home in late afternoon I go West - sun reflection from the bonnet goes directly into driver's eyes.
It's a great reason for me to go for a matte color, especially since I find the Enceladus Grey a great looking paint - and of course, because I'm not planning to change my work too soon :giggle:

One should NOT understand that I'm planning to change the car for color reasons... However, the double capacity HV-battery and the Sennheiser availability are pretty god reasons!

Love the seats in @Syphon ‘s review video.
Those seats are the CUP bucket seats, with carbon back, and AFAIK those are only optional with the Extreme pack here on the continent, or optional on VZ3 and VZ-FE in UK. Also, have a look at the YT video I linked above - those are the same seats... The issue is that the reviewer mentions that they are quite uncomfortable for long trips.

Paint or wrap your bonnet matt black, it’s why some Police traffic cars have black bonnets.

PS the Matt paint is perilously soft and nigh on impossible to match 🤔
