New 2024 CUPRA Formentor UK prices – now available to order

Prices start at £33,450 and rise to £51,790. Exterior and interior redesigned. But don't call it a facelift.

The newly redesigned CUPRA Formentor is now available to order in the UK.

Created to appeal to the next generation of CUPRA drivers, the new designs feature a striking, shark-nose front end embellished with an integrated CUPRA logo, triangular LED lights (matrix as standard on VZ3 trim), and an illuminated logo positioned in the centre of the rear light.

Complimenting the fresh exterior is an enhanced interior. The centre console, door panels, dashboard and upholsteries have all been redesigned leaving the driver surrounded by new and sustainable materials with a high quality feel.

Now open for order in the UK, the CUPRA Formentor sports the latest plug-in hybrid technology capable of 272PS and an electric-only range of more than 70 miles.

Pricing for the new CUPRA Formentor will start from £33,450 OTR.

“These latest designs for the hugely successful CUPRA Formentor and CUPRA Leon have been developed to lead the brand into a new era. From the sustainable materials inside, to the integrated lighting outside, both models have been created to offer drivers an unforgettable experience.

“We have not held back on performance either. CUPRA Formentor and Leon have been redesigned to be as much of a thrill to drive as they are to look at with new powertrain options, both petrol and e-Hybrid.

“We’re delighted that we’re able to offer the new designs in addition to the CUPRA Born VZ, giving UK drivers even more to choose from in our range.”

Marcus Gossen, Director of SEAT and CUPRA UK

Fresh look: enhanced exterior design

The new CUPRA Formentor exteriors is designed to impress. Featuring a shark-nose front end, triangular LED headlights, and a big, bold lower mouth, the face presents a strong and determined look with an integrated and illuminated CUPRA logo in the centre.

Well-balanced proportions are complemented by an athletic side profile, with a variety of 18-inch to 19-inch alloy wheels available. At the rear are coast-to-coast taillights, and to continue the lighting theme, at the centre sits an illuminated CUPRA logo with the V-shaped tailgate further accentuating the emblem.

New paint finishes are also available, with CUPRA Formentor arriving in the new and exclusive Century Bronze Matt or Enceladus Grey Matt. The palette of colours is then completed with Fiord Blue, Midnight Black, Glacial White, Magnetic Tech, Graphene Grey, and Magnetic Tech Matt.

New materials and digitalisation: interior uplift

The interior of the new model has received a significant uplift. The centre console, door panels, dashboard and upholsteries have all been redesigned, whilst the bucket seats in both cars are now wrapped in either 73% recycled microfibre or environmentally conscious leather.

In addition, on the VZ3 trim level, CUP bucket seats come as standard to provide that sportier performance feel, with the decorative elements of the interior such as the centre console and air vents, arriving in a dark chrome finish.

The technology within the new CUPRA Formentor has also seen enhancements. Sitting at the centre of the driver’s focus is a larger 12.9-inch infotainment system, which complements a new and improved Human Machine Interface (HMI) within the digital cockpit.

Sound remains a high priority in the redesigned models, with an all new optional high-fidelity 12-speaker audio sound system from Sennheiser.

Performance to match the look: new powertrains

Alongside the design enhancements, CUPRA Formentor receives new powertrains.

The CUPRA Formentor’s powertrain entry point is a new 1.5-litre TSI petrol unit delivering 150PS and linked to a six-speed manual transmission. This is also available as a 48V mild-hybrid (eTSI), exclusively in combination with the DSG transmission.

At the pinnacle of the Formentor line-up are the VZ variants. A new, range-topping powertrain is available for these trim levels that delivers 333PS (245kW) alongside a seven-speed DSG gearbox. On the VZ3 trim, this unlocks a new drive mode with a drivetrain calibrated for the racetrack and equipped with torque splitter technology and Akebono brakes.

The greatest powertrain development arrives in the form of the new generation e-Hybrid technology. Two options are available: 204PS (150kW) and 272PS (200kW). Both come with the new 1.5-litre TSI engine, an electric motor, and a larger battery pack offering 19.7kWh (net). This culminates in an electric range of more than 70 miles.

An additional powertrain option in the form of a 2.0-litre DSG-auto 265PS unit for the CUPRA Formentor is set to arrive later this year.

For the new CUPRA Leon, there is a range of petrol powertrain options. The entry point is a four-cylinder 1.5-litre 150PS (110kW) engine that is linked to a six-speed manual transmission, available on both the hatchback and Estate.

So what do we think of the pricing? Will you be ordering one?
In short, No.

Too pricey vs 2nd hand and I really don't fancy all that Nanny State Tech being forced upon us neither.

5 year Warranty - is reassuring, but still too expensive all in for what is still (unfortunately) a fledgling (or is it Cuckoo..? 🤔) brand.

On-the-road price of the TSI VZ2 is approx £8.5k higher than when the TSI VZ2 Formentor was first introduced.

The OTR did increase year on year even with the OG Formentor, but at least the opportunity was there briefly for people to avoid higher tax threshold.

Now with these new list prices, the TSI will never be appliable, the segment of buyers aren't going to be looking at the Formentor for at least 6 years from now. But at least it's all fixed if I decide to own one again, in the future. Trouble is, every manufacturer is now going to compete with every used 17/18+ reg coming out of the extra £40k tax rate.

Still not sure I can figure where the CUPRA brand sits in the VAG Group and if its trying to be a premium brand (which these prices imply) then they need to get there dealer network sorted.

I could not justify spending that sort of cash on a new car which will depreciate far to quickly and i also wonder what is going to happen to prices if the Chinese competition and for that matter KIA release more new models.

I think that Cupra was originally conceived as a sports brand rather than a premium brand. However, the Cupra model range now includes many non-performance models, which IMHO dilutes the sports brand image (no offence meant to owners of non-performance Cupra‘s). Irrespective of where the Cupra brand sits within the VAG’s hierarchy, IMHO there’s no excuse for poor customer service at dealerships, although sadly, it happens; I‘ve also had poor service with VW.

I agree, the Chinese need to be watched - there‘s now a BYD dealership within 5 miles of where I live and it’s probably only a matter of time before there’ll be other Chinese brand dealerships springing up locally. Historically, my perception of some of VAG’s brands (especially Audi and VW) has been one of arrogance. However, they can‘t afford to dwell on past glories and rest on their laurels, otherwise they’ll become has-beens. The power of the competition can’t be underestimated or ignored - especially when it’s the Chinese.

I fully agree and reuters quoted Stellantis boss Carlos Tavares, the Netherlands-based automaker's chief, last week that if the company's loss-making brands "don't make money, we'll shut them down". and I think VAG will also be looking at the cost of all these different brands vs benefit they get (in profit)

VAG Bosses already admitted that the IT Mess on there new cars has cost the brand dearly and I suspect the new car makers are much more nimble at making what the market wants (which seems to be more Tech in the car)

Exactly my thoughts on too many non- performance CUPRA's.

I look forward to it - if only because with the SEAT you don't have to pay the £960 that Cupra charge for Desire Red or Graphene Grey paint
That’s a really good point. I’m still feeling personally attacked that Cupra dropped Red altogether. Had three in that colour so far.
