The standard size is 205 40 17 but i see that 225 45 17s are a bit cheaper plus a bit wider :D
Has anyone else fitted this size tyre?
I don't want to have to start cutting away bits of bodywork, like on a Land Rover...

Changing from the factory spec tyres to 225/45 R17’s will result in a speedo reading error; your speedo will be under-reading by around 6%, so at an indicated 60 mph you’ll be travelling at a true speed of approx 64 mph (see screenshot below) and in the UK it is illegal to have a speedo that shows a slower speed than the actual speed you’re travelling at.

Additionally, with the tyres you’re considering being 20mm wider than your current tyres and the tyre sidewall being around 19mm higher, there’s an increase risk of tyre rubbing issues. Handling may also be affected. There might also be insurance implications in fitting tyres of a size that weren’t intended by Seat to be fitted to your car.

Speedo error calculator that the screen shot below was taken from is at the following link; https://www.tyresizecalculator.com/tyre-wheel-calculators/speedo-error-calculator

Just pointing out the potential issues of fitting them - that’s if they will actually physically fit. Lack of responses from other forum members suggests no one else has fitted that tyre size.

I personally wouldn’t fit tyres that results in the speedo illegally under-reading and also increases the risk of unknowingly breaking the speed limit.
