The rear offside light on my FR now has quite a few condensation drops inside as well as a steamed up look in places the one the other side is fine is this a fault or a 'charactaristic' of the leon? thought i would ask before going to nearest dealer 35 miles away.....

Mine has exactly the same problem - looks rubbish doesn't it? My car is at the dealers on Thursday for another reason but I'm going to mention this and my rusty wheel hubs while I'm there.

Oohh,,, seems to be a "Seat characteristic" now .... first time I've read about this so assumed fault.

Fault or characteristic that is the point of my question do they all do it or not? my definition of a characteristic is something the maker cannot fix and has given up on iam sure we all agree that is a fault but can it be remedied?

Ok, my car's been in and had the boost valve thingo fixed, so no more mooing noise.

But... I'm still waiting to hear whether SEAT will authorise the replacement light under warranty. Can't see why they wouldn't really though. The dealer obviously recognises it as a fault and it's clearly not something I've caused myself. Will let you know as soon as I hear from them.

When i first picked my car up in march, i noticed my headlight had a little condensation in it (had the same in my ibiza). I mentioned it to the girl who was sorting out the handing over of the car and she came back with a sheet of varying degrees of fogged up lights. I believe if its over half of the light that is misted up you can get it changed under warranty, mine went within a few hours and never had the problem since (touch wood). So if you want the thing changed, make sure that its pretty well fogged up.

hope this helps

Yes, like you, when i first picked up my car in January, I noticed the headlights were a little misty. The guy said it was perfectly normal as they aren't sealed units and they will dry out quickly. They did.

This rear light, on the other hand, is quite literally soaking wet inside and has no chance of drying out by itself. It's about as fogged up as it could be with droplets of water running down the inside of the lens.

I've just heard that my rear light is going to be replaced under warranty.

Great news hopefully for everyone with the same problem.

I have a 07 Leon and it is very much fogged up, i took off the light and blasted it with a hairdryer on a few occasions, I even redone the seal with silicone. But it still fogs up. Also the other rear light doesn't not fog up, but there are a number of dead flies and dirt inside. I want to replace the lights but I am afraid that this is only going to happen again. I bought my leon from a garage which was not a seat dealer so i have 0 comeback. MY dilema is, do i buy a new set and risk it happening again, or is there a way i could fix this problem myself.
