Remapping a PD170 FR

Hi all,

At some point in the future I will almost certainly map my newly acquired Leon FR 170 TDI. I have asked previously about who to go for but my question here is how do these PD170 FR's hold up to a stage 1 remap that may give 195-210bhp and 300-315 ft/lb? My main concern is of course the clutch. I only use the car to commute (60 mile round trip) and never done a track day in my life.

Ps 5 days into ownership and I bl**dy love it! :p

And so does the girlfriend who drove it for the first time yesterday. Rinsed a guy in a A4 2.0 TFSI Avant on the A47 coming off the roundabout.

Good girl. Practically saw the horns growing!!

As far as I'm aware, with a stage 1 remap you should be fine with the original clutch. Aslong as it's not too worn. For a stage 2 remap then I think you would need to upgrade the clutch. How many miles has the car done? The only issue you might have is if the clutch you have at the moment is worn and on it's way out anyway.

They go like **** off a wet shovel when mapped BUT CHOOSE WHO MAPS IT WISELY!

I see you chose Revo. I used them on my MK1 Leon Cupra 150 TDI and on my MK1 Octy vRS

Both stage 1 and both enough for me. I have heard that they don't like to map the PD 2.0 TDI though for some reason. Is there any foundation to this?

I chose Revo because it was a freebie through work and I know the software is top notch.

They don't offer any software for the BMN PPD 170 engine because when they did, in the early days there were countless issues that were down to components like; injectors, DPFs, turbos etc but people were quick to blame the software so they dropped it.

We still have a couple that come in work with stage 1 Revo and they are rapid.

Make sure that it has had the injector recall (if it qualifies)
The PD170 engines are prone to injector failure as the early Siemens Piezo units weren't up to the task.

Yes it was done Feb 2012 according to SEAT UK

Anyone experience of Celtic Tuning or Angel Tuning?

I got offered a remap last weekend for £150 instead of £250 from a company called AAS in Stockton (Advanced Auto Solutions). The owner actually lives on my road so might pay him a visit at some point to discuss in more detail. I asked if it was a generic map but was assured it was specific to each car. Only thing I didn't like was that they don't have a rolling road.

Obviously I would rather use someone else like Revo, Ktune etc, was tempted non the less though.

I'd rather have it done somewhere trusted that others have used to be honest. I'm not that clued on what type of maps are available. Whats bad about Quantum maps?

the price is the first worrying point,
the second is no one has ever heard of them,
the 3rd is that they appear on websites for companies that all look the same with the same web design just different title,
the 4th is that they say theyve been established since 2007 but companies house says 2010 which means they must be called something else, looks like Cit-tech Ltd, who are currently dissolved, but dont worry the website is still running http://cit-tech.quantumtuning.co.uk/maidstone-tuning-remap-remapping-chip-ecu.aspx#intro but wait that's the same as quantum's?

Just everything rings alarm bells, over 250 dealers world wide? you mean 250 transit vans pumping out crap maps? http://quantumtuning.co.uk/quantum-dealers.aspx look at them all!?

Then compare against the biggest names in the industry and do you notice anything? http://www.goapr.co.uk/dealer/
Its like a type of ecu mapping Spam mail, maybe if you had an problem free car then yeah sure go for it, but I wouldnt risk it
