SEAT CELEBRATES SALES RECORD IN 2009

SEAT is starting 2010 on a high as the sporty Spanish brand looks back on an exceptional sales performance over the last 12 months.

With the latest official figures confirming that 2009 saw SEAT notch up its best ever market share in the UK, 1.50% (source: SMMT), and the December sales share of 1.64% coming within a whisker of an all-time market share record for the month (1.65%, 2003), the firm is optimistic about its prospects for the year ahead.

SEAT is celebrating its biggest fleet deal with news that it is to supply 500 new Leon Ecomotives to British Gas.

The outstanding deal, brokered by SEAT UK’s newly-revamped Fleet and Business Sales team led by Head of Fleet and Business Sales Nick Andrews, saw the ultra-green Leon come out tops in a tender process that initially involved more than 50 models.

SEAT Sport drivers and employees celebrate two WTCC titles

For the second year in a row, SEAT employees and SEAT Sport drivers have been able to celebrate together the brand’s success in the World Touring Car Championship.  YourRacingCar.com felt a mighty force of support from the SEATCupra.net forum members in 2009 when it launched its fan sponsored race team competing in the Michelin Ginetta G50 Cup on the British Touring Car Championship series. With the SEAT Barmy Army left wondering which of the SEAT Toledos and Leons would turn up to each race weekend, they had one team they knew would be there come hell or high water. Ok, so it’s not a SEAT but it’s British through and through and with a unique insight into the sport offered by the YRC crew, getting behind a Ginetta G50 wasn’t too much of a stretch of loyalties for the SEAT Barmy Army!

Jordi Gené and Tiago Monteiro best positioned SEAT on the starting grid in Macau

The practice session of the WTCC's last round that will be raced next Sunday in Macau has been extremely difficult for the SEAT Sport team. The practices in Macau are traditionally held on Friday and after an excellent first session, in which the five SEAT managed to qualify for Q2, the definitive qualifying session with the ten fastest cars, Yvan Muller and Gabriele Tarquini, the two title contenders, where hampered by an accident.

HEAVY RAINFALL AT THE OKAYAMA RACETRACK
Under extremely adverse weather conditions, SEAT contested the two races of the World Touring Car Championship staged today at the Japanese Okayama racetrack achieving the aims set and keeping the lead in the championship. The last meeting of the calendar, which will be held in Macau on November 22nd, will decide on the two world titles of the 2009 season.

Third consecutive pole position for SEAT and Gabriele Tarquini

WTCC IN JAPAN

Gabriele Tarquini took the pole position for SEAT Sport at the Japanese Okayama racetrack, venue of the penultimate meeting of the 2009 World Touring Car Championship. Under especially difficult circumstances, due to the layout and a very hot tarmac, the five SEAT Sport drivers managed to qualify among the top eight, with Tarquini on pole, Rickard Rydell fourth and Jordi Gené, Yvan Muller and Tiago Monteiro on 6th to 8th position.

SEAT Sport to defend WTCC leadership in Japan

The SEAT Sport team is faced with a difficult challenge in the last but one 2009 WTCC series of races to be held on November 1st at the Okayama circuit in Japan. Though the track favours rear-wheel drive vehicles, all team members are leaving for Japan determined to come out of the race still at the head of the field so as to be in the best possible position for the final races in Macau.
