SEAT PREVIEW NEW IBIZA ST – compact dynamics with great usability.

With a World Premiere at the Geneva Motorshow, SEAT is pushing forward with its latest product offensive – the Ibiza ST is the third model to join the brands successful Ibiza supermini line-up.

The February 2010 desktop wallpaper features the new Ibiza FR Turbodiesel recently announced by SEAT.

SPICY NEW SEAT IBIZA FR TURBODIESEL DEBUTS

SEAT have announced the introduction of the Ibiza FR TDI, available in either sporty SC or 5dr guises with prices starting at just £16,465 RRP. They are available to order now at SEAT dealerships nationwide with deliveries set to begin from March.

WORLD CHAMPIONS SEAT CALL TIME ON WTCC.

SEAT have confirmed that they are pulling out of the FIA World Touring Car Championship. However the Spanish marque have said they intend to carry on supporting privateer teams.

It’s been a tough week for SEAT Sport supporters with the recent withdrawal of the last of the brand’s factory supported motor racing efforts this week but there’s a reason to be cheerful for those SEATCupra.net members who venture to the tracks around the country each weekend during the British Touring Car Championship season. AmD enter 2010 BTCC with VW Golf

AmD are entering the 2010 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). The really interesting news is that its chosen car is a VW Golf, a manufacturer unseen in the BTCC arena for over 20 years. Though this is not strictly a SEAT story we grant you, AmD are a superb outfit and loyal supporters of SEATCupra.net and we wish them every success as they take on the challenge of BTCC this year.

SEAT CELEBRATES SALES RECORD IN 2009

SEAT is starting 2010 on a high as the sporty Spanish brand looks back on an exceptional sales performance over the last 12 months.

With the latest official figures confirming that 2009 saw SEAT notch up its best ever market share in the UK, 1.50% (source: SMMT), and the December sales share of 1.64% coming within a whisker of an all-time market share record for the month (1.65%, 2003), the firm is optimistic about its prospects for the year ahead.

According to information on the Spanish website Sportmotores and TouringCarTimes, SEAT will announce their plans for the 2010 WTCC programme next week. It is expected to announce a seriously downscaled programme.

SEAT is getting straight to the ‘point’ with a cheeky new advertising campaign which appears online, on TV and across the printed media from 19 December.

SEAT and Shakira get together again

SEAT and Shakira have signed a collaboration agreement which sees the sporty Spanish car manufacturer become the main sponsor of the international pop star’s forthcoming European tour.

When it comes to awards, SEAT doesn’t do things by halves. While many car makers content themselves with picking up the odd trophy in the plethora of annual awards that cram the motor industry calendar, SEAT has saved itself for a truly momentous title that’s awarded just once every ten years!

SEAT is celebrating its biggest fleet deal with news that it is to supply 500 new Leon Ecomotives to British Gas.

The outstanding deal, brokered by SEAT UK’s newly-revamped Fleet and Business Sales team led by Head of Fleet and Business Sales Nick Andrews, saw the ultra-green Leon come out tops in a tender process that initially involved more than 50 models.

SEAT awarded WTCC champions trophies at FIA Gala.

The best drivers and teams of the 2009 season were awarded their prizes at the glittering gala finale traditionally organised by the Féderation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) in Monaco.

For the second year in a row, SEAT employees and SEAT Sport drivers have been able to celebrate together the brand’s success in the World Touring Car Championship. SEAT’s Technical Centre, production facility and corporate building at Martorell provided the backdrop for the visit today of Gabriele Tarquini, Yvan Muller, Jordi Gené, Rickard Rydell and Tiago Monteiro, who offered employees two more world titles to add to those already achieved in 2008.

SEAT Sport World Touring Car Champions 2009
Absolute success for SEAT in the 2009 World Touring Car Championship. The SEAT Sport team achieved all of its aims today at the challenging street circuit of Macau, venue of the last round of the season, clinching the Manufacturers’ World Championship and the Drivers' World Championship for the second year in a row, and also the Independents' Trophy.

YourRacingCar.com felt a mighty force of support from the SEATCupra.net forum members in 2009 when it launched its fan sponsored race team competing in the Michelin Ginetta G50 Cup on the British Touring Car Championship series. With the SEAT Barmy Army left wondering which of the SEAT Toledos and Leons would turn up to each race weekend, they had one team they knew would be there come hell or high water. Ok, so it’s not a SEAT but it’s British through and through and with a unique insight into the sport offered by the YRC crew, getting behind a Ginetta G50 wasn’t too much of a stretch of loyalties for the SEAT Barmy Army!

The practice session of the WTCC's last round that will be raced next Sunday in Macau has been extremely difficult for the SEAT Sport team. The practices in Macau are traditionally held on Friday and after an excellent first session, in which the five SEAT managed to qualify for Q2, the definitive qualifying session with the ten fastest cars, Yvan Muller and Gabriele Tarquini, the two title contenders, where hampered by an accident.

Jaime Alguersuari, SEAT ambassador

BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A LEON CUPRA R
Starting today, Formula 1 driver Jaime Alguersuari will be a SEAT ambassador thanks to the agreement reached with the Spanish brand to provide him with a very special model, the Leon CUPRA R, which he will be using to get around when not driving a competition car.

HEAVY RAINFALL AT THE OKAYAMA RACETRACK
Under extremely adverse weather conditions, SEAT contested the two races of the World Touring Car Championship staged today at the Japanese Okayama racetrack achieving the aims set and keeping the lead in the championship. The last meeting of the calendar, which will be held in Macau on November 22nd, will decide on the two world titles of the 2009 season.

WTCC IN JAPAN

Gabriele Tarquini took the pole position for SEAT Sport at the Japanese Okayama racetrack, venue of the penultimate meeting of the 2009 World Touring Car Championship. Under especially difficult circumstances, due to the layout and a very hot tarmac, the five SEAT Sport drivers managed to qualify among the top eight, with Tarquini on pole, Rickard Rydell fourth and Jordi Gené, Yvan Muller and Tiago Monteiro on 6th to 8th position.

The SEAT Sport team is faced with a difficult challenge in the last but one 2009 WTCC series of races to be held on November 1st at the Okayama circuit in Japan. Though the track favours rear-wheel drive vehicles, all team members are leaving for Japan determined to come out of the race still at the head of the field so as to be in the best possible position for the final races in Macau.
